Re: Advice for first time Corvair owners or almost owners...
when the top goes down the price goes up, hmmmmmmmm are we talking cars here? you know, there are tell tale signs. Some of the things I look for are wear on the pedals, do they match the said milage? How much has it been played with with changes and modifications and up grades? As much as we hate to...

Re: dashboard bulbs
I am having the same issue with my new 64 so this helps alot. I haven't gotten as far as the instrument panel yet. It seems they should work the way the factory designed them. So i am hoping it is a contact issue with the dimmer or the grounds or bulbs out. I couldn't fathom why they would need a bo...

Re: oil being shot out
Terribleted, some really great words if not just for the pragmatic thinking on cutting the tube. I will inspect the tube under the exhaust shroud when i have time and get back with you. It is very generous that you help out a poor shlep like me. And, unfortunately i will probably have more questions...

Re: oil being shot out
Thanks for all the help. I would cut the oil dip stick tube (teribleted) if it would fix it are you sure others have had success? What eventually happened? And so forgive me but, you have heard of this situation before? maybe the dip stick tube has been replaced! i am kind of obsessive so if i don't...

Re: how many corvairs still around?
That is cool that it still runs. i think my grandpa had a loadside pick up. i know where one sits today but i don't know what year it is. how can I tell if it is a 62? the thing I notice about corvairs is that you see them in clumps of groups. What i mean is; when some old bird has one he usuallly h...

yeah,
That thing was drriving me nuts. i had to turn the stereo up real loud to drown it out. The new round one is mounted in the same place and is almost silent.

how many corvairs still around?
i have seen production numbers but how many are still actually around? highest numbers are in 64-65 I guess but of those how many are around? I own the second 64 Monza so i guess those are most plentiful. What are the rarest models? Thanks David P>S> if you have pictures of your rare Corvair please ...

Re: carb question...
I had the same exact thing happening to me. The needle was sticking but i readjusted float levels and put it back together and i was good to gp. I wonder about the fuel regulator question ans well. I had a noisy elctricle fuel pump mounted under the passenger seat that apparently worked in conjuncti...

Re: oil being shot out
i know i probably haven't provided any additional information in my situation but my theory (similar to "terribleted") is that while all of the seal rings are indicating a good-high compression, one or more of the other rings on the piston is messed up in some way and passing and inordinan...

Re: oil being shot out
Ok I finally gave up after many parts changeout. i took it to the shop and they put all the hoses back to stock. Now the thing like mentioned in one of the former posts is spewing oil out of the dipstick and when i drive it apparently is shooting onto the bottom of the hood because it is oily around...

oil being shot out
from crank case breather tube when driving. The 1964, 110 Monza engine is near new with only about 34,000 original miles. All cylinders have about 150 lbs of pressure but this crank tube smokes when idling and apparently spews about a quart every 100 miles or so. Does anybody know what this is all a...

another electrical feul pump question
I just bought a 1964 monza with 33,000 original. It had sat for a long time but is super nice. It has an anoying lectrical feul pump under the passenger seat. Aside from the noise i can't seem to dial it in correctly. It also has a fuel pressure regulater in the gas line. It is set at about 3.5 (I h...
