Re: Electric Corvair ---
I just did some research on the Pinto and I couldn't find a single example of them exploding. They did tend to leak gas and catch on fire in rear end collisions. It is very very difficult to make a gas tank explode. The only gasoline explosion I've ever seen was a gasoline tanker truck that was in a...

He didn't say anything about watching any other news or being afraid of homosexuals. Listen to either of the mentioned sources for 5 minutes and you'll see he is correct.
Also a gasoline tank doesn't explode or burst into flames when hit like batteries do.

Great stuff! Thanks!
We need effective length more than travel.
My '62 has shocks that don't allow much droop at all in the rear which seems good to me.

Straighten it. All it takes is a dial indicator, some v-blocks, a dull chisel and hammer.

I don't know about your state but I believe in TX they have to accept it. It isn't up to them who pays tax.

Re: Automatic transmission
I've had the cables leak after sitting even with a new converter bushing and seal. I'm sure a bad seal would make the problem worse.

Re: New to Corvairs - where should I start?
I didn't notice anyone mentioning the following: You need to run 10psi less pressure in the front tires. 25 front / 35 rear is good for the Maxxis MA-1s. Check your differential fluid. Your 64 should have a dipstick. Check it regularly for signs of ATF. When the internal seals go bad and leak ATF in...

Re: Automatic transmission
As others have said those symptoms are classic leaky shift cable. It leaks as the fluid level slowly rises from converter drain back.
The cable fills with fluid and when it gets cracks in the outer housing it leaks.

Re: Wild 1962 Corvair build mid engine Audi V8
Actually single exhaust if done right is better for performance. Look at real motorcycles and race cars. It has to do with the pressure in the engine fighting atmospheric pressure to get out. If all the cylinders are together the pulses combine and help fight atmospheric pressure and keep velocity up.

I like that one. 90% done with no donor car parts? Ha. I guess they bought a new Corvette crossmember from GM?
A price would be interesting.
