Re: Fuel Tank Sender Lock Ring Tool
I know the Clark's tool is amazing. Makes it as easy as releasing a dzus fastener.

Re: Shifter / 4 speed behavior
Was the oval was fore/aft so it didn't make the shifter sloppy? Up and down makes it sloppy.

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
I keep saying it won't help. Slice the rear mount open and put in a spacer to locate the engine. I think I used a 3/8 nut once. Maybe 5/16. There is an oval hole in the metal that lets the rubber flex. Just put something at the bottom of the oval to make the mount centered again. You will lose the r...

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
I can't see any way that could happen with the oil pressure. I'll bet it is something in the switch or wiring.

Re: Cracked cylinder, repair or not?
Dave is correct. Do not run it and it can't reasonably be repaired.

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
At zero camber your backing plates should have aligned properly. The motor mount correction will allow you to get to zero camber with less than your 21 7/8 lift. I'm guessing 21 7/16".
Maybe your control arms are bent. That would explain the axles and the backing plate alignment.

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
It will help the camber slightly but will do nothing for the axles.

Re: Carter YH Issues
I can tell you that the original caps do not hold pressure in the tank and do not leak and I fill mine all the way to the cap. I've never had one apart to see how they work. I'm sure drilling a hole in them would make them leak. I did have a '63 that would leak when completely full but a cap off ano...

Re: Carter YH Issues
Even though it sounds likely I don't believe the EPA retroactively banned vented gas caps. The newer caps were required on newer cars to pass and I would bet that the gas cap manufacturers just dropped the old ones. I would have to see the "law" before I belive that.

Re: Carter YH Issues
Mel just pointed out a fact. Your statement was hypocritical. I wasn't criticizing anyone until you brought it up but yes, if you sell a part that you know isn't going to work properly for the application you are selling it for you deserve criticism and I'm glad to point it out. More people should a...

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
It is very common for EMs to have sagged rear springs and it never causes axles to rub. I had my wagon loaded with so much weight it was bottomed out and no axle rubbing.

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
He has a normal looking stack of shims at least on one side. You can see them in the first bad mount picture. Spring sag will not cause the axle to rub. If it did all axles would rub every time the vehicle was loaded and or every time you hit a bump. Lots of us drive our cars hard and never have axl...
