Re: Engine Stand, easy question to answer

Adapt & overcome! This thread proves once again that Corvair guys are the coolest car guys anywhere.

Sure we're weird. But we're cool.

Re: Engine Stand, easy question to answer

Many HF tools are fine for home use. I did have a good laugh at their recent gold plated SPECIAL EDITION ratchet, offered like a fine collectible. They really put the con in Icon.

Re: Corvairs in new movie

A good problem to have, Miles! I met a guy named Roman near LA who was into Zeppelins, just like me. Went to see his amazing collection of Hindenburg girders, china, etc. Every room of his little stucco house in Reseda CA was crammed with millions of dollars of various museum-quality collectibles. H...

Re: Broken Rocker Stud

I have seen some rocker studs with a groove worn on one side from cockeyed rockers rubbing on them. Those would certainly increase stresses at that point and could lead to a failure. Any telltale marks on your broken rocker? It's almost certainly a fatigue fracture. Do you by any chance have access ...

Re: Broken Rocker Stud

Hey Sean: I enjoy your channel, great vids. Nice to hear your are putting some miles on "the Flooded Corvair". You really need a pithy new nickname. Start with Floody and go from there. Floodershy if you're Bronie. :) Run a contest on your channel to get names. As mentioned, this is a rare...

Re: Bench Wrenching

Can tell he's young. He used a speed wrench to remove the bolts after loosening. Us lazy, cranky old guys with tired wrists us a cordless drill with a socket driver bit. Dennis There's no wrong way to work on a Corvair! Actually in one of Tyler's cringier episodes he torques some bolts to xxx foot ...

Don't forget stock market day traders. They love to tell you when they made $500. They don't share when they lose $5K.

Re: Bench Wrenching

Yeah, and there are plenty of wrenching videos on Youtube that are fun to follow along. Uncle Tony's Garage, Vice Grip Garage, etc. And there's ever-optimistic young Tyler (below), who's learning as he works on his EM, and makes mistakes, and breaks bolts, and cusses and drinks beer when things go w...

Re: New Member. 87 Octane gas

I made the same mistake in 1980. Driving home on day 1 after buying my '67 Monza 140, I cheaped out and filled it up with regular gas (whatever the octane was in 1980). The seller did say premium only but I was young, dumb, and broke. Almost made it hope before she started pinging & sputtering. ...

Re: Gas smell in cabin but only while driving

I was also smelling gas today in my '67 on our first drive in a month in this fine sunny LA weather. Top of left primary carb was wet with gas, the large filter inlet nut was leaking. One quick snug with a wrench and problem fixed. If only other issues were so easy to remedy.

Did you check for gas leaks at or near the gas heater in the front trunk?

Nice man cave addition! How about some oil streaks on the wall under the 'Vair for a more authentic experience?
