Re: 65 Corvair Monza sway bar bushings

What a beauty! Definite order from Clarks and enjoy that car!

Oil leaks are possible from many places, including 24 pushrod tube O-rings......

I smell a smoking gun! That surely wasn't helping your shift situation. The new pin will definitely improve things.

Re: 140...

In his book "How to Keep Your Corvair Alive", Richard Finch goes on a rant about how 14" wheels lug the engine, causing it to overheat and drop valve seats. But he never mentions the diff ratio, which is at least as important in that regard. Good book otherwise.

'Rare' LM Clutch Rod Dust Shield on Ebay

These popped up on Ebay, claiming to be rare. Clarks is currently out of stock: http://www.corvair.com/user-cgi/search.cgi?part=C504 So here's your opportunity to get some NOS parts from my fine hometown of Charleston SC, where I bought my '67. Now play nice fellas, no hoarding TP or dust shields! h...

Re: Electric fuel pump

My '67 Monza 140 came with an electric fuel pump, mounted forward of the firewall. Worked fine but it would buzz when it got hot. Like engine hot on a hot day, stopped at a light. Buzzing starts, I guess fuel is vaporizing in the pump, all that heat off the muffler. As soon as I resume driving and a...

Re: 140...

The biggest single bang 4 buck on my 140 was swapping in 3.55 gears for my original 3.27. Easy swap, instant results.

Re: Cruddy Electricals

'67 Monza coupe. Never seen nor heard a key buzzer, but it's shown in the wiring diagram. If anyone knows where it is and what it looks like, please advise. Would love to get everything working again. I got a $17 SS voltage regulator and the last $52 alternator from Amazon. Ruined it for everyone el...

Cruddy Electricals

I think I got my money's worth out of the original horn relay. Wore a hole right through the upper contact! Zero connection, must have been a buzzer at some point in its life.

And from the looks of the voltage regulator's internals, it's also time to replace. :)

Re: storage area in back of back seat

@terribleted: What a beautiful speaker box you built! I also put my speakers there, just mounted a flat plywood plate at whatever the angle was and put auto carpet on. Worked fine. Bad photo attached (should have taken more/better) before I removed my previous installation, I'm redoing it now. I'm c...

Re: Boyne Turn Signal Switch 67-69

I was happy to find my cancelling cam today, stored some 20 years ago. Thought it was gone! I was about to order one ($32 everywhere) but it would have been the wrong one anyway. Mine is completely different from anything offered by Clark's or elsewhere, the bumps are much farther apart. Just for th...

Re: Boyne Turn Signal Switch 67-69

More work on my turn signal switch assembly today since my 67's hazard flasher was melted. I chopped it out, traced the wires (no simple feat) and put in a seperate heavy duty switch. I got tricky with two 1N4001 diodes to use the simplest SPST possible. High time, this car hasn't had latching turn ...

Re: 65 monza 4 speed w shifter issue.

I grabbed the shifter shaft coupling that goes into the transmission and could turn the coupler about 1/8 to 1/4 turn, I saw that the shaft going into the trans did not move yet. Pretty sure you found your problem! With all that slop, you're not able to get into reverse fully. There's a chance your...
