After a closer look, it looks like the bold goes though the crossmember and then there is a gap between the crossmember and the transmission. Apparently there is supposed to be a spacer there. I made a spacer from washer and everything torqued up fine.

I really messed that last post up. What I meant to say is that when I decide to seriously start looking I will definitely take advantage of the knowledge on this forum and also CORSA. I will be looking for a reliable car and don't mind paying a little more to get it.
