Tom's 65 Coupe
It's been a while since I checked in here. When I joined a few years ago, I had a maroon '65 coupe project car that needed bodywork, an engine rebuild, and more. It came with a 140 motor that was in pieces, nice Enkei 15" wheels, new tires, and a few other goodies. I began picking away at the b...

Re: First Corvair - project car
The 66 model year 140HP engine got the infamous secondary carburetor lock out linkage and it is difficult to make work well. Many get rid of it and install the 65 style, or go with the Roger Parent linkage. While rebuilding a 140 engine for my '65 coupe, I went with Roger's linkage. It's far superi...

Re: Corsa Clock Setting Knob
I have jeweler's screwdrivers. The screw was rusted in place and ended up snapping. No biggie - I bought a new screw and knob from Clarks and installed then along with the new quartz movement. Good as new again - actually, better than new!

Re: Finch Engine Cart a la Harbor Freight
Very nice when you can put an inexpensive thing like the HF dolly to work for something like an engine removal!
Can you enlighten me on what HTKYCA is? I'd like to read up on Richard's method. I've pulled and installed several Corvair motors, but maybe there's a better way to do it.

Re: Corsa Clock Setting Knob
The screw head is intact, but evidently very tight and stuck from never being removed. I'll squirt a little penetrating oil in there and let it sit before trying to loosen it with a little more force.

Corsa Clock Setting Knob
I'm planning to rebuild my Corsa dash clock with Clark's quartz movement kit. I have the dash apart, but can't get loosen the screw holding the clock setting knob in place. Rather than strong arm and break it, can anyone tell me if there's a trick to removing it? Thanks.

Re: 140 Carbs and Linkages
I already have Bob's carb book, so I'll be digging into it soon. I'm not an ME or EE, but have extensive experience working on Corvairs years back. I've also been restoring motorcycles and rebuilding DOHC engines for years. That being said, I still have plenty to learn, so I expect to encounter a fe...

Re: 140 Carbs and Linkages
Thanks for the info, the pictures, and the Roger Parent info. The carbs that came with my 140 were in a box and disassembled, missing ALL of the linkages. They also came with the wrong crossover rod. Unless I come up with a nice set of used linkages, Roger's option looks like a good one.

140 Carbs and Linkages
My 65 140 engine came with a box of partially disassembled carbs and it appears that I'm missing various linkages. Before I even start to rebuild these, I need to know what I'm missing - specifically the linkages going from primary to secondary carbs. Would someone be willing to send me some pics of...

It is an awesome video. But he needs to replace the left damper door thermostat - it was plain as day when they showed the bottom of the truck!

Re: CLARK’S Closed
Gentlemen, start your engines. Clark's is back open for business. A member of one of the Corvair FB groups was surprised at how fast his order was shipped, even though they're only partially staffed.

Re: Road Candy 65 Corsa 140
Hi Bbodie52! The unit was stated to work best when located on the roof, and I feel the hole was a minor alteration considering that I am this car's Savior :) You are correct about all the other options. It works great! Stay safe! Alan I don't blame you for wanting to set it up for optimum performan...

Re: CLARK’S Closed
Our governor here in Mass. has extended the non-essential closures through May 18th. Unfortunately, Clark's website shows they are remaining closed until at least the 18th. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Corvair Forum mobile app I saw that yesterday and wasn't surprised. I bet that they could have st...
