Re: 140 Carbs and Linkages

I already have Bob's carb book, so I'll be digging into it soon. I'm not an ME or EE, but have extensive experience working on Corvairs years back. I've also been restoring motorcycles and rebuilding DOHC engines for years. That being said, I still have plenty to learn, so I expect to encounter a fe...

Re: 140 Carbs and Linkages

Thanks for the info, the pictures, and the Roger Parent info. The carbs that came with my 140 were in a box and disassembled, missing ALL of the linkages. They also came with the wrong crossover rod. Unless I come up with a nice set of used linkages, Roger's option looks like a good one.

140 Carbs and Linkages

My 65 140 engine came with a box of partially disassembled carbs and it appears that I'm missing various linkages. Before I even start to rebuild these, I need to know what I'm missing - specifically the linkages going from primary to secondary carbs. Would someone be willing to send me some pics of...

Re: Great Corvair video by Jay Leno

It is an awesome video. But he needs to replace the left damper door thermostat - it was plain as day when they showed the bottom of the truck!

Re: CLARK’S Closed

Gentlemen, start your engines. Clark's is back open for business. A member of one of the Corvair FB groups was surprised at how fast his order was shipped, even though they're only partially staffed.

Time to make my list...

Re: Road Candy 65 Corsa 140

Hi Bbodie52! The unit was stated to work best when located on the roof, and I feel the hole was a minor alteration considering that I am this car's Savior :) You are correct about all the other options. It works great! Stay safe! Alan I don't blame you for wanting to set it up for optimum performan...

Re: CLARK’S Closed

Our governor here in Mass. has extended the non-essential closures through May 18th. Unfortunately, Clark's website shows they are remaining closed until at least the 18th. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Corvair Forum mobile app I saw that yesterday and wasn't surprised. I bet that they could have st...

Ironically, all the liquor stores are open. "Essential" I guess.

Re: CLARK’S Closed

I can't explain why Amazon can stay open and Clark's can't, but rules are rules and our governor has spoken. Contrary to how we may feel, Corvair parts aren't essential to every day life like groceries, prescriptions, etc. Look at it this way - if Clark's stayed open and just one of their employees ...

Re: New To Forum With 40 Years Of Corvairs

Welcome to the group, John. Speaking of unusual Corvair conversions, several years ago I met a guy at the Corvair International Convention that was held in Sturbridge, MA. He had transplanted a late model Camaro engine and drivetrain into his LM Corvair, putting the engine up front. He also transpla...

Nitrided Crank ID

I understand that there is an ampersand symbol stamped on one end of the crankshaft to indicate that it's nitrided. Does someone have a picture of that they can share so I can locate it? Thanks!

That is really rare.
Maybe he meant to say that it's running on 4 cylinders! :jawdrop:

Re: Where can I get a Corvair?

Sam, I really like your enthusiasm and interest in these great cars. 14 yrs old is a great age to start learning how to work on them. And you budge is pretty reasonable to start with. You could very well find a running car for a lot less and then you can focus on fine tuning, cosmetics, upgrades, et...
