Re: Clutch not releasing properly

I have a 1964 Monza. I bought a 1964 Monza for a donor car. All parts came from the donor car except for new clutch parts from Clark’s. All parts fit perfectly except that one ball socket on the cross shaft. I don’t know if the owner of the doner car changed anything about the clutch assembly. I hav...

Clutch not releasing properly

I have just finished a transmission swap. Removed a power glide and replaced it with a 4 speed. Got a doner car to make it easier. 1964 model. I can’t get a full release on the clutch disc and finally realized that the main lever assembly is not pivoting properly. There is a ball socket on each end ...

Re: Power glide to 4 speed conversion

I looked up the 4 speed transmission for the 1965 model and the pic shows the backup switch location in the tunnel about midway. All though I have a 1964 model I thought only the 3 speed had that setup. Anyway I had a powerglide and the switch is on the shifter. I could jump the connection but that ...

Power glide to 4 speed conversion

I'm trying to convert my 1964 Monza from a power glide to a 4 speed transmission. I bought a 1964 convertible for the necessary parts. Well what a surprise, the 4 speed won't fit. Can't find enough clearance for the transmission. It is bottoming out on the rear sub frame. I measured the power glide ...

Re: Disc brakes on the 60

Holyroller I put front discs on my '64 Monza Coupe and can't stop the car. Using the Scarebird Kit and early Camaro calipers. Bought a special dual port master cylinder from Speedway Motors which is supposed to work for Manual or Power brake systems. It hasn't helped much. I need a power booster but...

Re: Powertrain swap

Thanks guys for the great information on my powertrain swap. Lots of info I wasn't aware of. Every little bit helps. This Forum is a blessing for people trying to maintain their Corvairs. My 140 engine was already in the car when I purchased it. Don't know if he changed out the engine for a 140 bloc...

Powertrain swap

I have a 1964 Monza Coupe with a 140 engine and a power glide trans. Considering changing over to a 4 speed. Are there any limitations to what I can use for this project? Example: Any year 4 speed trans, bell housing, differential, and whatever would be necessary? No clue at this point but I see whe...

3 Point seat belts in an EM

Has anyone installed 3 point seat belts in an early model Monza with bucket seats? I see info for late models but not mine. I have regular 2 point belts now but don't want to eat a steering wheel. Where to mount the upper harness on the door jamb? Thanks for any help, David

ball joints

I have a 1964 Corvair Monza Coupe. I am trying to find the proper Lower Ball Joints for this car. Allmost all listings I find refer to a "bolt-on" type ball joint. Clark's Corvairs shows a "press-in" type joint. Prices range from $12 to $150 for 1 lower joint. Very confusing. Wou...

Re: Upper Vent Tube for PCV pipe

Well, I guess I'm lucky because I measured in 2 crossing directions after looking at about 10 pics of PCV holes and got it exactly perfect. Now to finish the installation.
