running way too rich on a turbo can be due to a faulty accelerator pump diaphragm, also a choke not opening can cause that. but I would make sure the fuel pressure is right first.

Oldshep24 - what makes you think it is only running on the 3 cylinders on the left side?
does it seem to be down on power? not getting any boost overall?

Re: Fo64-69rged pistons
Also I recall the EM engine connecting rods were "beefed up" or made with more material for the turbo charged engines. Sorry I don't recall if they became standard for all the 145 c.i. engines. Others with more information can reply. there were 3 Corvair connecting rods used. 60-63 normal...

Re: Spark plug threadserts
I would call around to some auto machine shops and find one that has a "Big Sert" insert kit for a 14mm spark plug and have them install it for you. The kit is expensive for a one time use or hobbyist, it's about $350 USD.
If properly installed, it's a long lived repair.

Re: Frustrating Exhaust Leak, Early Turbo
Is there room for a v-band fitting? You might have to add an extension to one of the pipes to get it to work.

Re: 6 carb adapter plates
Hey flat6_musik, did you ever do anything with that "rat-mobile" engine with the Fibermotive intakes? deadwolf - if you're thinking of the adapters for the IDA triple Webers it seems like they're pretty rare anymore. There was some talk by some racers of having some more made, but it's onl...

Re: EDIS Revisited?
You have to be logged in in order to download my maps on that site, the 180hp ones are all I have. Can this EDIS system work with just the 140 engine? Like acarlson posted, it's just an ignition system and will work with either turbo or normally aspirated engines. If you read his installation artic...

Re: Piston rings
monzadon - did you confirm the pistons were hitting the valves? or is that what the previous owner told you? it really is an uncommon situation to have piston-valve interference in stock motors.

the rods can be installed with the stamped number down and it won't be a problem. you want the notch on the piston correctly oriented toward the bellhousing

No worries, just needed to know. You are about 130 miles from the Corvair ranch in Gettysburg, if you can't find one locally.
