Tunes in a Vair Convert.

I have a 64 Spyder Convertible that has an FM/AM radio in the dash that works not well mind you but works, single speaker. Looking for ideas of how to upgrade to a better system for not a lot of money. Has any one mounted small speakers in the area just in front of where the top frame folds up a lit...

fuel tank sending unit

Is it possible to install the fuel tank sending unit upside down so that is does not work. Awhile ago I put in a new tank and sending unit in my 64 Spyder a fun job, I checked the sending unit before I installed it and it seemed to work all right. After I had completed the job and had filled the tan...

Corsa Communique Issues

Hello all I have a lot of past Communiques that I got several years ago when I got my corvair. The person that I got them and the corvair freom had been collecting them for as long as he had the corvair maybe longer. I have had them and added to the volumes so I am guessing that they go back at leas...

Better Headlights

I have a 64 Spyder, and after driving home the other night I thought that some better headlights might be in order. What have others done to improve headlight visibility with our EM's. Thanks.

Re: 64 turbo fuel gauge not working

Thanks for the response. I was hoping on avoiding the draining the fuel tank end of this problem . Most likely I got something out of wack when I put sending unit in I know that I had put the new tank in and then installed the sending unit into the tank & I had checked the sending unit before I ...

Re: 64 Spyder starting problem

Thanks I get that remote starter switch. I have touched the coil wire before I will try the tester first unless one of the neighborhood kids stops by. Thanks for the hook up location.

Re: 64 Spyder starting problem

Thanks, How do you check voltage at coil by yourself? Long leads on volt meter so you can read meter when turning the key to start? What should I get for voltage reading at coil? I am thinking I should start there. I thought that the electronic ignitions were the way to go this car came with it.

64 Spyder starting problem

Hello all I have been working on my Spyder for the last for the last year off & on. Last summer I found I had the valve seat in the #2 cylinder come out. I pulled the head and got it fixed and over this summer I was able to get it all back together. It started right up and I was able to adjust t...

Re: Wheels & Tires

Thanks all for the information I don't think that I will be parting with the wire wheels any time soon. I do like the way they look on the car so at this point if I do go to a bigger size I am going to keep these so I can go back to as close to original as I can get.

Wheels & Tires

I am thinking that after the snow goes away and I can get my 64 Spyder out of storage that I might replace the 13" wire wheels and tires with 14" wheels and tires. The wire wheels are in good shape and I have had verry little problem with them, a couple of times I have found them starting ...

Another Wheel & Tire Question

Will 14'' rims from a 1994 Chevy Corsica fit on to an 1964 Monza it now has the real wire wheels so I would have to take off the adapters but I thought before I did that I would ask you folks who know a lot more about Corvairs than I do. I have heard that the handling improves with the bigger wheel ...
