Re: Fan hitting shroud. Was: What just happened to the turbo?
Glad to hear it's back on the road. Good Idea to find someone familiar with the turbo, to get a feel for the power. Of my three Corvairs, the turbo is noticeably more powerful, so you may still have some issues.

Re: Fan hitting shroud. Was: What just happened to the turbo?
Same thing happened to me. I believe the previous owner pressed the fan bearing into the top cover cold, thus galling the cover. when the engine got hot, the bearing would rise in the cover, and the fan would hit the shroud. You'll need a new top cover, as that cover is likely ruined, and press the ...

Re: STREET ELECTRO-COOL FAN KITS
I have the thermocouple from VairTrix, and I haven't seen over 400 yet. But that is with the lower shrouds on.

Re: STREET ELECTRO-COOL FAN KITS
I love the cooling innovation going on with the Kevin Nash fan but I don't see the burning need for it in my daily driver life. I'm on my 6th summer in Phoenix driving a PG 65 4dr 140 with factory A/C and still using the old Frigidaire compressor. If anyone needs more cooling it would be me and we ...

Re: Engine Troubles... Please Help
You might have an issue with a flat cam lobe, and need to measure lift at each valve. I hope it's something much simpler!

Welcome Tommy.
I've not heard the term excessive crank walk as it relates to a Corvair either. One thing I've heard of, although rare, is a broken crankshaft due to an improper harmonic balancer. Where are you located? There may be a local Corvair club that can help you diagnose your engine.

Re: Chinese Wabasto Heater FOUND!
I believe that 5kw refers to the heater output, not power draw from the 12 volt input. 5kw converts to about 17k btu.

Valve size
I'm trying to find info on the valve sizes of a 65+ 110, and a 140. Can anyone tell me the diameters of the intake and exhaust? Clark shows the 140 and (exc 140) sizes as: exc 140: Intake: 1.344 Exhaust: ? 140: Intake: 1.723 Exhaust: 1.36 they show the (exc 140) exhaust as a 4 groove valve, but don'...

Re: Brakes/lights
The light issue is most likely a grounding problem. Many have modified the light sockets, adding a ground wire. When were you're brakes last serviced? You may have to jack each wheel off the ground, and turn by hand to see which one is sticking.

Re: Won't start after sitting for 3 months...
You should check after it dies, to see if the accelerator pumps squirt fuel. If dry, you're losing fuel again. loosen the fuel lines at the carbs, crank and see if any fuel is pumping. If not, you may have a clogged sock filter in the tank, and it allows fuel flow for a while, then stops up. You can...

Re: Remote side mirror
Brad, do you have the assembly manual info for mounting the right side mirror on a late model? I mounted one on my convertible, but I can't adjust it in far enough. Perhaps it's a location issue?

Re: Decode my vin
Thanks, I meant body tag, not vin tag. With the info you gave me, I can decode the vin, thanks again. The car appears to need all original, one repaint, same color. It has a rear antenna, but it's vertical, rather than slanting rearward, so I wasn't sure that was stock.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

It looks like the large rollers are installed vertically. I guess it doesn't matter which way the hole faces? Thanks for the pics!

Re: 65 passenger seat help
Does anyone have a picture of the runner assembly? I had to remove the passenger seat because the wouldn't move back and forth. I found one of the bolts that hold the runners to the seat was loose, causing the seat to bind. The cause turned out to be that the captured nut had become un-captured. Whe...
