Re: 1961 Chevrolet Dealers Book

I would love to see the info on the 900 Monza. Mainly the club coupe.
Thanks,
Norm

Re: Time sert head stud problems

If you are concerned that the time sets won't hold use a less aggressive torque sequence. In other words when you get to 15 pound feet of torque bring the additional 15lbs. In 2.5 lbs. Increments until you have 30lbs of torque on the heads. You have to go for it either way. Good luck.

Re: The Age old Early Model wheel Question

If you like the Ansen Sprint wheels you can buy new ones in 15×6 with a 4×4.5 bolt pattern with the proper back spacing. Have them powder coated black. That would be bitchin.

Re: Wiring brakes and rebuild kits

The shoes should have a slight bit of drag. If you have to use muscle to turn they need adjustment for sure. Unfortunately Corvair Underground has closed its doors after many years in business. Try Clark's corvair parts. They have all the parts you will need and great service I e as well. The majori...

Re: The Age old Early Model wheel Question

I would not suggest going with these wheels. The back spacing is wrong for the application. Further more a 7inch rim with proper width tire (205 to 225) would make the clearance issue worse. Even if you roll the wheel well lip they won't have proper clearance. I run 13×6 Ansen sprints that are rever...

Re: 1963 Corvair Engine detonation

Based on what you have said about your engine I would say double check for a vacuum leak. The only thing that hasn't been rebuilt is the distributor. So I would consider a replacement if it's a problem. I would first check the carb on the 0 vacuum side and make sure it's getting fuel. I mention this...

Re: Brake fluid low.

Sorry for the miss information. I assumed you were asking if the line was supposed to be filled with fluid. I haven't had a powerglide car in years. Thanks for clarifying Ted.

Re: Brake fluid low.

The hose is not fluid filled. Check where it enters the trans. If you see trans fluid it is the O ring/gasket. Easy fix. Clark's has the gasket.

Re: Brake fluid low.

Is the leak at the trans. Where the shift cable enters the transaxle? This is common if so. Just replace the gasket and at the same time you can adjust the transmission shift cable. Refer to the shop manual for the adjustment. On another note it looks like your E brake cable is showing signs of chaf...

Re: Brake fluid low.

If you choose to replace the master cylinder I would upgrade to a dual unit. Clark's has the kit you would need. This is a great upgrade. I would love to do this on my 61 but it will require alot more work. I.E. parts and fab work.

Re: Brake fluid low.

Your fluid level is low. It looks as though it has been low for some time. This is due to what looks like rust in the reservoir as well as the boot on the cap being dry. It sould be filled to the level of the compressed boot. Check the fittings and lines under the dash. I would recomend a complete f...

Re: Vent window frame

I would love to help you out but that price is very light. I understand the shipping will be costly to VA. This is a good quality vent window assembly with good glass and rubber. I would need 75 to give it up. Let me know what you think.

Re: 140 Air Filter Reco?

I have seen an open element filter run on other 140s. It looks nice and should flow better. It would be easy to adapt it, just make sure the model # filter assembly has a provision for PCV system. It wouldn't be very difficult to fabricate a port in the base plate for the system either. If it were m...

Re: 1960 4 DOOR 4SPD LOOKS ORIGINAL $2,900

If this car has a 4spd it isn't all original. The 4spd wasn't available until 61. I felt it was something to note for a prospective buyer.
