Frustrated again
I recently went to a parts guy and purchased what I thought was the correct sheet metal for my 62 with a 65 engine. I cannot figure out how this piece fits on the right side. ALSO what is the groove for that I have the arrow pointing to. I have a photo of both sides of this piece. Also a shot of my ...

Re: STUCK VALVE COVER
So I did get the cover off. I found the one hole that has an insert. As you can see in the photo it sticks up a bit from the rest of the mating surface on the head. This is the cover that I believe my leak is coming from. With this insert sticking up will it cause a leak when I put on a new gasket? ...

STUCK VALVE COVER
I have a problem with a stuck valve cover. All four bolts are out but I cannot pry the cover off. I believe because the previous owner used some sort of grey looking stuff because it is ozing out at various places. Also there are two different sized bolts used with three different sized hex heads. I...

Re: Oil leaks determination & possible causes
I need to jump in here as a beginner and someone that is after leaks. First question can I remove my oil cooler without draining my oil. i want to do preventative work before I put my new gaskets on my valve covers. Also a question about using studs on my valve covers. Do you use studs just to line ...

Re: SHROUD ISSUE
I am back after a couple weeks of removing all the top shrouds. Only get to work on it a few hours on the weekend. Life gets in the way. So I am in the process of cleaning the shrouds of dirt and grease. Removing the factory staples are a bitch. But after all are removed and all the tins are cleaned...

Re: SHROUD ISSUE
I am back again starting to remove shrouds and misc. pieces. I removed the small box that screws to the firewall that is part of the heater system. My question is there a plate that covers up this opening if you do not want a heater? Also the hole in the shroud where the flexible duct goes can I plu...

Re: SHROUD ISSUE
61supermonza, I would love to do that but I do not have the equipment or the room or the help to do that. So I will remove all the shrouds with the engine installed. Is there a procedure for which ones come off first. I do know to take the top engine shroud off the carbs have to come off. and I woul...

Re: SHROUD ISSUE
After doing a lot of research and looking closer at my engine compartment I believe I have to remove all my shrouds and add the rubber seals. My question now is are my shrouds for a LM or a EM. What is the difference between the two. Are some shrouds the same for EM and LM cars? I looked at a couple...

Re: MOTOR MOUNT PROBLEM
The head numbers match. 3878566. The Driver side number is toward the front of the car and the Passenger side number is toward the rear.. It agrees with the block number of T0301RH. So it looks like a 65 engine.

SHROUD ISSUE
I am back again with another issue and questions. Does it look like I have the wrong shrouds or are they installed wrong or were they cut? The three photos two from below and one from above. It's not supposed to have a gap like that. Also what is that thing that i have the arrow pointing at?? The ca...

Re: MOTOR MOUNT PROBLEM
When I purchased this Corvair I thought wow a 1962 Corvair convertible for only 5,000 $$ At the time I thought cheap. It runs and looks pretty nice. Then after some reading and posting on here I see I have my work cut out for me. I still believe the price was fair. ?????? So for now I am going to re...

Re: MOTOR MOUNT PROBLEM
rear_resized[3716].jpg Attached is a photo from above of the rear end. I don't believe it was hit, There is a small dent on the left side in the sheet metal but hardly big enough to cause a shift in the frame. After talking to Clarks They said what I did to the engine mount won't affect the car. Th...

Re: MOTOR MOUNT PROBLEM
So now I have bigger problems?? I don't know how I would muscle the engine. I don't have that much muscle. Will it be driveable now? And if it was hit in the rear end how is that fixed? I will be posting a good shot of the rear end as soon as I can. I can always buy a new bracket with the correct sl...
