Re: Are These Corvair Wire Wheelcovers?
Mine had four of those that the PO put on. I believe he said they originally went on a different model Chevy from the late 60s, but he could have been BSing. Either way, I don't like 'em. I bought a set of dog dish covers to replace them.

Re: CLARK’S Closed
As soon as they reopen, I need to order motor mounts and a turbo exhaust system. Plus a dozen odds and ends. I'm going stir crazy waiting to get the engine back in.

Re: 63 clutch cross shaft seals
Thanks Brad, Like the 63 assembly manual, this drawing only shows one shaft seal, on the inboard side. I wonder... the dust shield assembly where the clutch rod engages the clutch fork inside the bell housing... Mine only has the nylon washer to seal. Did that assembly take a felt washer? I have to ...

63 clutch cross shaft seals
Hi all, I need help figuring out the felt dust seals on the clutch cross shaft. When I disassembled the cross shaft and pulled out the old grease and seals, I wasn't that observant about where the seals were on the assembly. I've got everything cleaned up, nylon ball seats replaced, new clean felt, ...

Re: Close to my first drive
I'm curious what your mechanic meant by "the differential is leaking into the transmission." Don't the transaxle and transmission share the same gear oil?

Re: Turbo question: Is this turbine usable?
Quick update: I received the replacement from the vendor today. It looks good so far. It needs a good cleaning, then I'll post pix.

Re: Headllight switch
Agree with Ted; I got the light switch in my 63 out without removing the dash panel. It requires a little contortion, but it's possible. Incidentally, I was removing the light switch because the rheostat was fairly gunked up and corroded. It wouldn't dim the panel lights smoothly. I hit it with Deox...

Re: Turbo question: Is this turbine usable?
Thanks guys. The vendor is going to exchange it for one in better shape. He didn't notice the crack before he shipped it to me. I'm sure the next one will be good.

Turbo question: Is this turbine usable?
Hello folks, I need opinions from people who are knowledgeable about turbos. I'm rebuilding the turbo in a '63. The turbine that was in it was missing the end of one blade, so I bought a used turbine from a Corvair parts vendor I believe to be reputable. The used turbine I received has a crack in th...

Re: Looking for help decoding tag
That's your body tag. It gives you information about the body style, build date, original paint scheme, and certain body options. The code stamped on the first row is the body production date: 05 = May and E = fifth week of the month. Style 62-0967 indicates 1962 model year, 09 = 900 Model (Monza), ...

Re: How to remove speedo drive, '63 4-speed
Update: The weather finally cooperated enough so I could act on this. The speedo drive came out just as described, thanks guys. I tapped the drive against my palm and the broken end of the old speedo cable came out far enough that I could just grab it with needle nose pliers. After re-installing the...
