Re: Need EM Door Latch. Help?
I'm having the same problem with front passenger side door latch on my '62 Monza 4-door. Several years ago, I removed all the latches, degreased, removed surface rust, clearcoated, and lubed them with Vaseline. All but this one latch work great. This one latch refuses to "catch" when installed in ...

Re: 62 Monza Horn Ring mounting question
Thanks! I thought something was missing. No idea what happened to part #13, may have ended up with my LM parts. Will probably have to make one. The exploded view does not show this OTHER plastic ring that I DO have (see attached photo). I'm guessing that they added it for the '62 model year? Where ...

62 Monza Horn Ring mounting question
Removed the steering wheel on the '62 Monza to paint it a few years ago, and now I can't figure out to to attach the horn ring using the parts I have. There are just three screws to attach the horn honker parts. The horn ring has three large holes that are bigger than the screw heads, so obviously ...

Re: No Run Condition
Thanks for the suggestions and info. I'm looking forward to getting it running again. One observation: Even though it fires when I pour some gas down the carbs, it only runs for a second or two. Normally when I do that, it runs longer. Maybe the old mechanical fuel pump has finally gone to fuel pump ...

No Run Condition
I'm nearly done restoring my '62 Monza 900 sedan, just need to install carpet and seats, finish the new door panels, and get new window sweeps... AND figure out why it won't run. I've had this car for years. It sits for long periods, but it's always been easy to get running and runs and drives great ...

Re: Trunk Weatherstrip Seam Location
I have all the shop manuals that I converted to PDFs from the original scans, but did not have the 1966 Fisher Body Manual. The instructions for replacing trunk weatherstrip are on page 3-14. Here's a direct link to the 1966 Fisher Body Manual: http://1969corvair.com/techpages/techfiles/1966_Fisher ...

Trunk Weatherstrip Seam Location
It's been a long time since I removed the old trunk weatherstrip. I have a new one to install. IIRC, the seam (where the two ends meet) goes in the front/center where the trunk latch is. Is that right? Thanks

Re: Help: Lots of positive camber EM
Sort of on-topic: My '67 Monza came with a sagging left-rear spring that had a rubber "spring saver" jammed in between the coils, but still sagged a tad. I have a set of heavy duty rear springs from a '65 Monza that are in great shape that I plan to swap in. The 65 HD springs make the car sit lower ...

Re: storage area in back of back seat
That's a really nice speaker cabinet, terribleted. :-) The old VW Beetles have a very similar fold-down back seat and package area behind it. I made a speaker panel for mine using 1/4-inch plywood covered with vinyl. It was just a flat panel that set on top of the package area, did not even require ...

Re: Door panel: repairing those pins
For the '62 Monza sedan I'm restoring, I went a different way. All of the door panels were totally shot, so I made new backer panels and bought marine vinyl to cover them. I was going to use some stainless steel ring shank nails for fastening vapor barriers to siding, but they were too big in ...

Re: Just Can't Get This Pig Running
Maybe you hurt its feelings by calling it a pig! When I was a kid, my mother had a green '56 Ford station wagon that probably had worn rings and excessive blowby. It was always hard to start when cold. Mom would pat it the top of the dashboard and say, "Come on, green dragon, you can do it!" and it ...

Re: Pulling right and left
Yes...i noticed the pittman arm bushing is quite worn so i will replace it and as to the side bearing sleeves, i marked them and counted the revolutions to reinstall them...only way to replace the O rings. I have also rebuilt rear axles and am aware of the delicacy of shimming and bearing ...

Re: Need Info on carpet for early sedans
It dawned on me that the third steel plate went between the bucket seats, which have since been replaced by a bench seat, so won't bother reinstalling it. Cleared out the area behind the package area. There was a HUGE mouse nest made of fiberglas insulation that someone lined the floor of the ...

Re: Need Info on carpet for early sedans
The repro front carpets stop at the front of the front seats pretty much at the floor and also at the floor on both sides at the rocker panels. There are separate pieces of carpet for each rocker panel area that the floor pieces overlap when installed. The rear carpet goes up under the back of the ...
