Corvair Anti Sway Bars

The bit about them in How to Hot Rod the Corvair Engine 1969 edition sold me on them. Looks like the strongest one was a 3/4 inch one. How does it go with them year by year? It is covered in book but be nice to see it layed out again. Believe the first couple of years it was no anti sway bar front o...

Re: Corvair Tire Air Pressures 16 PSI Front and 26 PSI Rear

Thanks Bruins Fan and Brad

Okay.Radial tires need more air than the 15 and 26 PSI.Got it.

How about pump up the rear to 35 PSI.

Then pump up the fronts to 25 PSI.

Then make small adjustments from there.By taking car out and driving it and testing different tire pressures.

Corvair Tire Air Pressures 16 PSI Front and 26 PSI Rear

Okay.I believe it now! Saw it in a Youtube by GM.Sort of.Film is by Ford actually.'Falcon Better Than Corvair'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShBoZt71pbs So.Every Corvair gets the tires pumped up this way? You get get new tires and they say 'Tire Pressure 35 PSI'.But you put them on the Corvair an...

Re: GM 3800 Supercharger Blower Corvair

'Have you kept in mind the counter clockwise engine rotation?' No.Now that that is in focus I have a solution. I was looking at 'gear-to-gear' transfer cases for swing axles in a mid engine conversion. A transfer case like that for this would be no great shakes. Would have way less load on it than a...

Re: GM 3800 Supercharger Blower Corvair

Thanks That is similar to the factory turbo charger with a supercharger in same place instead. The GM superchargers are made to fit on an intake manifold so it will take some calculating to figure out how to do it. I do not think funneling the output into a small tube is the answer. Might work.Just ...

Corvair Suspension in Homebuilt Chassis

EDIT:Did have something here but after no response in two days.

Do not think it serves any useful purpose to post anything about home building using Corvair parts.

Thanks anyway.

Re: Horrible tragety for my buddy and fellow corvair guy, please help if you can.

Thanks

Tell Charlie to get in touch with me if he wants to talk about starting over from nothing.

Might have some things for him to start putting together his Corvair collection and business.

Corvair Single Seat Open Wheel Race Car

EDIT Did put a few words here about single seat car but I deleted it out after no response after waiting for two days.

Looks like I am the only person interested in building a car like this.

Guess I will just keep it to myself.

Thanks anyway.

Re: GM 3800 Supercharger Blower Corvair

Thanks Dave 'I rarely see a supercharged Corvair engine so had to show this swap instead.' I am not surprised to hear that. For starters the Corvair cooling fan is where superchargers usually go. The Magnuson kit I saw had two of them. You put one on each side and leave the cooling fan undisturbed. S...

GM 3800 Supercharger Blower Corvair

It is a time honored hot rod or racing tradition to adapt a supercharger to your engine. S.C.O.T. superchargers in the 50's were Italian made superchargers that a shop in the USA sold with all the adapters for American engines. The not so fun part of this is one off machined parts and fabricated man...

Re: General Turbo Questions

I am just glad to figure out what the whole turbocharger looks like.

All these years I thought it was just the one part you see for sale all the time.

Looks like there is a cold side then a drive section housing and then a hot side.

Saw picture in manual.I am clear on it now.

Re: General Turbo Questions

Hi Joel I read the Turbo section.I did not see anything noticeably different.Looks okay. On the Corvair somebody explained the major parts to me. Exhaust driven part.Pushing the air part. Then a middle part. That is going to be very cool getting one of these! All these years whatever I have been seei...
