Re: '60-64 Corvair Engine Disassembly Tips
Good answers! Working on getting engine. Is that right that bellhousing holds in oil? Somebody that knows told me that's the way it is but I think I need to hear that one again. Then the casting with generator mount distributor and oil pump looks like a can of worms. Need to see one to figure that a...

Re: '60-64 Corvair Engine Disassembly Tips
Which engines have mechanical lifters and which have hydraulic?
Which engines have two carbs and which have four?
Probably getting a '60-64 with whatever it comes with but just would like to know these things.

Re: '60-64 Corvair Engine Disassembly Tips
Brad You figured out I hit an 'information black hole'. Did some some searches and info just was not popping up like it does for other engines. Thanks for all that info will look at it tonite. Here's a pretty picture. Looks like every set of pushrods has one slanted. Those look like aftermarket barr...

Re: '60-64 Corvair Engine Disassembly Tips
Thanks for responses.
With no book right now let me ask some questions.
Saw diagram and looks like middle cylinder pushrods are slanted.
How does that work?
Are pushrods in tubes between cylinder head and engine case?
What is the oil system like? Will look for diagram.

Re: '60-64 Corvair Engine Disassembly Tips
Thanks.
So the '65-69 has cam bearings?
I need to get up to speed on Corvair engines.
I can see by improvements mentioned somewhere each year you go up engine seems to get better.
Like 164 cu in is better than 145 cu in. That's a gimmee there.

Re: New From Southern California
Thank you. If anybody is coming to the show and has a Corvair drivetrain that they just want gone they can drop it off here. I just did the same with an engine and tranny. Not a Corvair one. The person that it should have gone to did not respond to email. Engine had to go. Very excited about buildin...
