Re: John’s 65 sedan

Hi John, regarding the paint color, my '65 is the original Madera Maroon. I wasn't a fan of maroon colored cars in the past, but love this color on the Corvair. I get tons of compliments on the color. Red makes sense too, given that's how you remember your car. I enjoy all the info and photos you're...

Re: Just cleaned out the rats from my new 66 4door creampuff

I'm a big fan of the LM 4-door w/ PG, and feel a sense of missed opportunity hearing of your recent, SF-bay-area purchase. Good to hear you've joined the local club. Mel in Santa Clara is a good resource for all things mechanical, particularly engines.

Re: 1965-1969 Corvair Front Door Window Mechanism Details

Thanks Ted. I got the tool but was never able to remove the clip from either direction. It's hard to see that part of the lever; I think I see the clip and it looks like it's twisted. In any case, it's not coming off without a fight. I was able to bend the panel (which has been on my list of replace...

Re: 1965-1969 Corvair Front Door Window Mechanism Details

Does the door latch ("remote control") handle use a retaining spring clip? I've been able to remove the clip from the window cranks without issue using a notched wire hanger. Not so with this bugger. I can't get the trim assembly depressed sufficiently to see the clip.

Thank you both. I'll review the body manual pages along with Ted's tips and then see how it goes.

Re: 1965-1969 Corvair Front Door Window Mechanism Details

My '65 convertible's front-left window isn't secure when down; it rattles and hits the door when I shut the door. When looking down into the window opening the outer rear edge of the glass is pushed against the outer fuzzy. See picture: IMG_4386.jpg The front of the glass is pushed against the inner...

Parasitic Battery Draw

I'm trying to diagnose a battery drain and want to ensure I'm going about it correctly. Using an analog multimeter with the negative probe on the battery's negative terminal, and meter's positive probe on the battery's negative wire, I've set the DC selector 50, and the gauge's needle goes to 50. I'...

Re: Hemmings Corvair Restoration

I've followed this story in Hemmings since the beginning as Don and I acquired (or reacquired in his case) our Corsa 'verts at around the same time. His is story is a good read if not heartbreaking. Many a person would have thrown in the towel by now. For me and I trust a lot of folks on this forum,...

Re: Window Crank Handle Install

To close the loop on this one.....

I removed the insulation from behind the panel and was able to snap on the handle w/o issue.

Thanks for the input!
