Chevy steel bell housing,(scatter shield), already cut for Crown conversion.

I have an extra steel scatter shield for a Chevy manual trans. It will fit small or big block engines, 11" clutch, includes block plate too. Already cut for shifter linkage clearance on a Crown setup.$100 plus shipping.

Re: Syncros problem?

Yeah, that's been a dilemma, I've tried to find oil that is rated GL-4, I couldn't find any, I currently have Lucas heavy duty gear oil in it, it has a GL4/GL5 rating, says it is safe for brass parts. It won't react with the brass. But maybe it is too "slippery" to allow the syncro to grip...

Syncros problem?

Ok, so I finally got my clutch problem sorted out, clutch works as it should now, I get engagement about halfway off the floor now, I can put in and out of the gears while sitting still with the engine running with no problem. 1,2,3 shifts are smooth, but going into 4th I get a small amount of grind...

Tach question....

What do you guys use for a tach in your V8 cars? I have a Corsa dash, is there a way to electrically convert the stock tach to work with my 8 cylinder? I know I could probably replace the tach with an aftermarket unit, just curious if the factory tach can be rewired to work.

Re: Clutch problem, Help please....

All straightened out, took it for my first drive today. I had a multitude of issues: 1.) Too big of a master cylinder,(1"), went down to a 3/4", much softer pedal. 2.) Too much free play between throw out bearing and clutch fingers because of wrong pivot ball depth. My car has a steel scat...

Re: Clutch problem, Help please....

I made some positive progress today. I replaced the 1" diameter master cylinder with a 3/4". This solved the hard pedal I had, nice and smooth now. While I was under the dash hooking the new cylinder up I noticed that the bracket that had been added, (poorly), to support the clutch bell cr...

Re: Clutch problem, Help please....

Thanks for the links, pretty much covered all the basic stuff, this has me stumped. I'm going to start playing around with master cylinder attachment points on the pedal arm, see if that changes the feel of the pedal, I'd also like to try increasing the slave cylinder diameter, see what that does fo...

Correct transaxle fluid?

I'm having a problem with the posi clutches in my 66 Corsa trans axle, they are chattering/grabbing when turning. I'm going to drain the fluid, put in some of the GM posi additive, but what do I put in for fluid, 85w-90?
