Re: misfire

She lives! This is what I found. In progressive order. 1. #6 cylinder dead. ( recovered on its own ) lifter or stuck valve. Could reoccur. Rockers, springs, and nuts over winter. Possibly lifters. 2. Valves needed adjust bad 3. R/B carb float sunk. Missing gaskets. 4. linkages on both carbs bent all...

This is the hole and shaft I’m talking about. It’s on the cover not base. It is not the choke shaft. I believe it operates the fuel pump.

Re: misfire

Dumb question? How tight does the pump shaft need to be in the bore? Mine is pretty sloppy IMO. And there isn’t a lot to play with to put in a 1/4” bushing. Is there a fix? Does it even matter a whole lot? No sealing into carb body I see as a probable issue. Thoughts? I got two kits coming. If one w...

Re: misfire

You right. It’s just not the same. It’s all about money anymore. I like rock auto. I’ll try local first cause I’m in a bit of a rush to make a parade. And would like to see what I’m getting before I lay down the cash this time.

Re: misfire

Where do I get the best carb kit? I have gotten many small engine kits that were complete junk and had to cut my own gaskets and reuse old parts. Btw any good source for GOOD condensers? Lately the ones I’ve been getting have been failing quickly. China is making things to quickly trying to flood th...

Re: misfire

Thanks for the diagram. I’ll get to the carbs this afternoon I think. Real busy a.m. heading to the airport to pickup our two foreign exchange students. So corvair will be on the back burner a few days. Really till school starts. Then I’ll have some time again. Where did the summer go! I’m looking a...

Re: misfire

I’m Back. The 20-35# compression on #6 only happened once and initiated this process I’m in now. Hasn’t happened since cold lash set. Last Compression check. Initial cold set compared to running set after 40 mile run. As you can see. Right is consistently higher than left. Block # on upper right of ...

Re: misfire

Nothing really changed on the drive, other than it seemed to gain a little top end power. Not much but noticeable. It idles great! The problem is under acceleration it bogs and lacks any kind of power. One thing did stand out to me. During acceleration it is lazy, but when and if you start to let of...

Re: misfire

Lowest is 120. That hasn’t changed now. Took it out last night nite for 40 mile drive to make wife happy. I said what could be the worst that could happen? Her response.... we call for help. I said... blown motor...AAA home. She is now convinced it’s broken and authorized rebuild. I’m going to look ...
