Re: Powerglide

There are more differences than just the valve body, some of the valves and passageways in the PG housing are different as well, You would be better off rebuilding your stock EM trans or upgrading to a complete LM PG trans, I would advise against mixing LM and EM parts.

Re: Silent Cam Gear

Well I stand by the CA Corvair's gear, I have used them for years and built probably 30+ engines with them mostly 140's and some hot rod engines as well and have never had one fail yet, I do not set screw them either as I feel the bigger snout holds them to the cam better than the fail safe gears. I...

Re: Silent Cam Gear

IMO these days the CA Corvair's Cam gear is the best, the Clarks Failsafe Cam gear is second, the stock GM cast cam gear is 3rd. In the past I know Clarks was having problems with their Failsafe gears cracking and the teeth breaking off but believe they fixed the problem a few years back, the other ...

Re: 110 vs 140 crankshaft

A turbo and 140 crank will have a ampersand stamp on the crank hub indicating its nitride coated, at this point I would not worry about this with your build and the crank you have will most likely be fine if its not cracked. Even the hardened cranks can break, I say run it!

Re: Wrong Way to Pull a Motor

I will pull engine only on a PG car if the engine is what needs servicing, especially on a LM car to avoid pulling the axels and control arms, PG cars do not have the long input shaft and pulling the engine only is easy. A manual you pull the entire power pack, in my younger days it was a 1/2 hour-...

Re: which transaxle oil to use

I will be the stick in the mud! The transmission in my yellow Corsa has close to if not over 300,000 miles on it, the engine has been refreshed 3 times, The trans axel was filled with auto parts store brand 80/90 wt. GL5 back in the 80's. I beat that car to death and the transmission still shifts li...

Re: Problem registering for the convention

"I still can't get in, and they had better not have charged me THREE TIMES!" Scotty, did you write that? If so, send an email to me and I'll look it up for you. My email address is redbat01@verizon.net. Al Al, it was not Scotty, just a friend trying to join Corsa Via the Corsa web site. I...

Re: Problem registering for the convention

Al, maybe you should check into it and see if someone can fix it this time! This was from 2 days ago in a email to me from someone trying to sign up: Okay, I GIVE UP! I have tried 3 times to join that stupid Org, and it just keeps cycling me back from CORSA to PayPal to CORSA, to PayPal, to CORSA to...

Re: Problem registering for the convention

Not only that but the Corsa web page is broken as well, it basically makes it almost impossible to join the organization unless you call someone! The Capshaw is broken and sends you in a never ending loop or wont recognize when you click it to either join or recover your account! It was like this 4 ...

Kevin, Have you thought about using replaceable rubbing blocks instead of rollers? Might solve the bearing problem?

Re: Buyer beware

It does not matter who or what type business you deal with these days once in a while a bad part gets delivered! I have found a simple phone call fixes the problem. I have received a defective part from both Ca Vairs and Clarks (very seldom) and a simple phone call had a new replacement part on its...

Al, wasn't the Corsa insurance for track events removed? Also I been thinking of putting on a track event at Willow Springs, are your events for Corvairs only or any car?

Re: Buyer beware

This is why I don't like the vendor bashing threads as they always start off one sided. I am Glad Jeff chimed in to tell his side of the story :chevy: I have been buying Corvair parts from all the vendors for years and every once in a while you get a bad part or a part with a problem, A simple phone...
