I had this same problem for a while and ultimately realized the vacuum tube had slipped off a carburetor. Was looking everywhere else first

Re: Tune Up instructional video
Great thank you! I’ve adjusted the permissions on the video to allow embedding after noticing that it wasn’t working. Should be all good now!

Tune Up instructional video
I came across a video tape put out by the San Diego Corvair Club in 1987 which has a really great and clear walk through of a Corvair tune up. I’ve digitized it and uploaded it to YouTube, and now thanks to the San Diego Corvair Club, have permission to make it public and share it. Feel free to save...

Re: Top Shroud
Mainly thinking of having the ability to look inside more easily. Check for any new mouse nests after a stretch of not driving etc.Jerry Whitt wrote:Not sure what "fin" repair you would need, unless complete replacement.

Top Shroud
Has anyone ever seen or made a top shroud that comes apart in multiple segments so that the fins can be accessed from above without taking the carbs and everything off? An access door or panel maybe? Seems very do-able. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171221/0c98d379513b2bf6ec87f79e506087e6.jpg

Re: Driving during the winter
Haha I don’t know if I can just let it sit!
Planning on making an undercarriage washer with pvc pipe and give it a good wash down after occasional rides. Do want to take it out on a real snow day for sure!

Driving during the winter
I live in Brooklyn, and would love to keep driving the car occasionally a little around the neighborhood during the winter when there isn’t snow on the ground. For fun as well as for keeping the car in good running condition. Snow on roads in the city melts pretty quick but there’ll surely be some d...

Re: EM Automatic Transmission Light
The long socket you show is the bulb socket. It pulls apart at the back of the tube to expose the bulb. Got it apart, thanks! Looks like there was a bulb in there that was working still but some kind of plastic color filter had melted blocking the view of the bulb and all light. All sorted out, tha...

Re: EM Automatic Transmission Light
The arrow in the partial schematic diagram below points to the gear selector lamp. The blue area highlights the lamp wiring, showing the grounded socket and the 20gauge gray (20GY) power wire. The gear selector lamp wire is connected to a junction point that is common to all of the instrument panel...

I’ll try to see if I can pull it apart, didn’t seem like a thing that looked like it should be, but it must be something like that I guess!terribleted wrote:The long socket you show is the bulb socket. It pulls apart at the back of the tube to expose the bulb.

Re: EM Automatic Transmission Light
*The automatic transmission gear indicator light has never worked as long as I’ve had the car so not finding a bulb there at all isn’t too surprising, but not even a socket to put a bulb in is confusing.

EM Automatic Transmission Light
I’m replacing some instrument panel bulbs with LEDs from superbrightled. It’s my first time getting up behind the instrument panel so a bit of a learning experience. There were no problems replacing the two main instrument panel bulbs, but the (socket) for the bulb behind the automatic transmission ...
