Re: Hello from Texas

Very nice car. I thought that was really strange too! I'd really like to know why that happened. The only thing I can think of is that water was running down the defroster hose, so maybe a big leak at the bottom of the windshield? I'd inspect the bottom of the windshield area under the dash carefull...

Azdave, good point. Most of the stuff I buy too, but if I'm going to buy a flash drive it might as well be a decent size in case I need to store some Corvair video clips. =D

Re: Rookie man

Precaution: Don't buy from Corvair Underground. Lon Wall has a history of taking your money then never sending the parts. Just do a google search. Lon has come on here to defend himself but I've heard horror stories from too many well loved and respected Corvair community members. I will say however...

Re: Rescuing a wagon in Nevada

Our next two Corvair purchases will be a Spyder convertible and a Lakewood or 62 wagon. I really wish there were a two door version available but Missy doesn't mind the four door wagon look at all.

Post pics of the Vair(s) in your signature here

Hey guys! I just had an idea here, and hope it will catch on. I don't imagine I'm the only one who looks at those signatures and wishes there were pictures available of all those cars. Even more so with the tiny Avatar images when there's an interesting looking car there with no way to get a closer ...

Re: No Reverse... Help!

I'll be interested to hear the results, I have little doubt Ted's diagnosis will be correct but I hope we hear for sure. As for the cable installation, one thing I've seen cause confusion is that when you hold the arm CCW to install the cable you have to turn past it's normal travel and hold it agai...

Re: Chevrolet Hall of Fame Museum Display

Awesome Brad! You are my hero sir, I do my best to learn and pass on Corvair knowledge but you've got me beat by miles. IL is a very long drive for me, is this museum worth driving 1,700 miles round trip? I wouldn't think twice about it if gas wasn't so damned expensive. As much as I enjoyed seeing ...

Hi there! I don't think there is anyone more expert than Bob Helt when it comes to Corvairs, check out his awesome books! Reading your post I'm assuming that the car has been getting driven and this problem just suddenly cropped up? Just in case a couple words of advice: As Mr. Helt said the lifters...

Sweet Spyder, and welcome to the community! That's quite a stable you've got, that 63 coupe is sweet, I think that's a favorite of pretty much every car guy in the world. Lot's of very knowledgeable people here, both in the department of advice and help with trouble shooting/repairs/upgrades and the...

Re: LM's / EM's terminology?

LOL 64powerglide good point! I'm wondering if someone with a full set of CORSA Newsletters, Windmill, Quarterly, and Communique's would know when the terms EM and LM first appeared in them. At the very least someone would probably be willing to look at the Newsletters and see if the terms were alrea...

Re: Rescuing a wagon in Nevada

Thanks Ford! My wife wants a wagon something fierce but they've got too many doors for my taste. I keep telling her to get a Type 3 Squareback instead and maybe put a 'vair engine in it. =D

Re: Axle oil and trans fluid

Just out of curiosity, might bad syncros be the result of a previous owner using GL-5? I'm sure normal wear and tear or abusive drivers also cause bad syncros, just wondering if the wrong lube can as well.
