Re: Ignition problems
Sorry everyone I'm usually half asleep when I post on here so I don't give in depth details of my car. I apologize as it is probably frustrating but everything that is posted is helpful to me. I just ordered the last copy on Amazon of the basic ignition and electrical systems book/magazine. I've ...

Ignition problems
I've been learning exactly how the ignition system works, and I've narrowed it down to a few things I think is why my 64 monza won't start. It's either the coil or the condenser on the coil that goes to the distributer. Are all condensers the same or will I have to order one specifically? Would the ...

Just a few issues
I am currently in North Carolina on camp lejeune. I am getting out of the marines in about a month in a half and moving back to PA. I will be shipping my corvair with me, and will probably end up renting a storage unit for it. I want to go in and at least start it and let it run about once a week ...

Re: Alternator issues
Could it have been the way I handled the generator while I had it removed? I was being gentle with it I thought, but as I put it back in the bracket snapped on the generator where the bolt goes on the oil filter and generator mount. Only the one towards the front of the car broke off but it still ...

Re: Alternator issues
What type of alternator should I use? Is it something I could easily find in a junk yard? I'm trying to save money to build a garage soon

Re: Alternator issues
I have the factory negative terminal wire and it is in good shape. I have it connected to the body and to the generator bracket. Still won't work. From what I'm reading online I think I'll have to buy a new generator. The pulley is seized and is very difficult to turn by hand

Alternator issues
I had to remove the alternator to get to the oil cooler. I fixed the seals for the oil cooler and then put the alternator back on. I tried to start it today, and it turns over just fine, But it won't start. After a lot of confusion, I had a friend turn the key only to notice the belt was just ...

Can't get the brake lights to work
I cant figure out why the brake lights will not work. All of the fuses are brand new, the bulbs arent burnt out, and I can't find any wiring issues. I am not the best at wiring but i am learning. The guy that had this 64 monza before me rigged up the wiring terribly. From all the wires I saw I fixed ...

Re: ...more leaking oil
When I last ran my 64 monza Sunday afternoon, it was running and driving great. (Despite the oil leak) when I went in reverse to park it, it died. Tried to restart the car and it shot some sparks going down to my feet from around the ignition and now will not start. I've had this problem before and ...

Re: ...more leaking oil
I tried that and yes the gas pedal does stick a little bit, but it doesn't fix the problem. I want to drive my car about a mile and a half to work tomorrow. Is driving with a leaking oil cooler going to be a big issue? I will make sure the oil level is good, just wondering if it will cause long term ...

...more leaking oil
Today was the first time I had enough confidence in my car to drive it to the store a few miles down the road. And it runs really well. I've made so much progress with it and I think I've taken care of most of the major issues. But there will always be something to fix on this car. I think i've ...

Yessir. Seems to leak from metal gas line coming from the drivers side carb. Either the brass nut or the steel one going into it
