Re: Wheels/Rims for 63 Corvair

Re: Wheels/Rims for 63 Corvair
short update: was at the tirestore today and they were so friendly to mount old ones for testing. 205/60/15 are fitting well and looking good - maybe a rubber issue with full trunk in corners. 195/60/15 is 10mm smaller in width and height (5mm from the middle) which makes at least no big difference....

Re: Wheels/Rims for 63 Corvair
@bbodie52 : thnx, but i've already read this info multiple times and they're still not fully logical to me. for example P205/60R15 (all, good replacement for 1966 - 69 7.00-13) ...why only a good replacement for 1966 to 69, as size is nearly ident to the orignal one (185/80) on Earlies? ...and P195/...

Re: Wheels/Rims for 63 Corvair
Correct, but the new rims where also 15x6 instead of 15x7.....The poster states those wheel were stolen and the replacements wear 205/60/15 on the same car slightly different offset so perhaps not an issue.

Re: summer/winter plate missing
hmmm, decals says to remove for winter operation - so fix openings would mean, that they are in a permanent winter mode and also the risk for overheating in summer....or am i completely wrong now?

summer/winter plate missing
Hi, on my 63 turbo the summer winter plate is missing on the left side. On the right side there's only a 14x8cm tin screwed down (with a sticker on it). Is this really as it should be? On "California Corvairs" if found a pictures were it looks a bit more "complex". ...and at &quo...

Re: Backspace & Offset ? Need Help
4.5" is ideal on a 7" wide rim. 3.5" is ideal on a 6" wide rim so it looks like you chose wisely. hi, want to ask for clarification regarding this: if i've caculated correctly a 206/60/15 tire on a 7" 4,5" backspacing rim means + 3,2cm on the outside and + 0,6cm on the...

Re: Where to buy rims?
Hi,
regarding this i've read: less sidewall means less rubber/air means harder driving feel and also more "stress" for the material.

Hi Brad, thnx for your detailed answer....and in the meantime i was able to located the problem(s). Fuse was ok (checked and heater's working), but multimeter showed that 12V DC is not going through connector under the dash. I was able to fix that with cleaning contacts. Hi Tom,
i'm living about 50km northeast from Vienna...have been in Styria several times for holiday, but never in Murau - but it looks nice from the pictures. Maybe I'll do a short trip there in near future.
best regards
Roman
