Re: CARicature corvairs

I have not posted in quite a while so this looked like a fun post to begin with and keep going. I was looking through some memorabilia and ran across this old T shirt I used to wear in the late 60's and early 70's. Took a lot of "HEAT" from my HS Hot Rod buddies but it was all in good fun....

Re: Engine fan painting

If this is for the 65 Corsa, you have a Magnesium fan. Some minor precautions should be noted before you paint. Initial inspection and prep is probably the most important step in this process. Look for any significant bubbling or corrosion or cracks. If you find some, it's your call but I would look...

Re: Searching for more info!

Interesting...I am thinking that it might have been a dealer promotional car??? Lots of pics online of a 60 Impala with this same badging. Just guessing. Could be an indicator of a very early 60 model. Look under the front bumper and see if there are some horn slots in the body (see pic). Badging as...

Re: Transmission

Ah! My bad. i misunderstood your post and took "a 10 below day" literally! Probably not the case often in sunny Florida!! So, let the process of elimination proceed until you figure it out. As already stated, gummed up linkage and/or missing or worn bushings is a great place to start looki...

Re: Transmission

As stated above it could be a lot of things. If it shifts OK when its warm but stiffens up when it gets cold outside you could be in need of a trans/diff oil change. Incorrect oil or if someone added STP or the like to it (once thought a good idea to a lot of teenage hot-rodder's and same era as the...

Re: Crankshaft Pulley

I have an RN 140 engine out of a Monza that had a pulley on it as well. Cast though. I wrote it off as a by product of a once somewhat popular in the early days; but wholly misinformed idea that the pulley might be somehow better on performance engines. Not so. I still see it now and then though. I ...

Re: Do you think this carb would work on a vair ?

I dunno.....CFM might a bit much, or should I say CYM (Cubic Yards per Minute)! Might just be a Canadian thing but I think I know some "Can Do" boys down in Texas that could make it work in a survivalist situation! Gotta love it! :rolling:

Re: 1965 Monza Convertible Suspension help

OK, sounds like your back on track with the new A arms. As far as the bolts go, most people I know use anti-seize compound on the bolts/cam bolts (especially in rust country) or perhaps a dry lubricant if you think its needed. Probably not a good idea to use grease as rubber hates grease and no matt...

Re: 1965 Monza Convertible Suspension help

2 thoughts. 1. Did you install the special washers on each side of the new bushing when you put it in? They are not optional and if missing it could possibly result in the condition you are experiencing. 2. What is the condition of your control rod bushings? If bad, this could also be part of your i...

Re: OPGI Quick Steering arms

I also try to wait until I have a larger order before I place it to help with the shipping costs. They do seem a bit high, i have to admit. But to keep things in perspective, I shipped a gift to a friend who lives in a semi rural area and the cost was almost stupid high. Location matters. local Infr...

Re: late model inner tie rod ends

Yes, these are gone. I tried to order right after I got the tip and they only had one left. I ended up ordering the Clarks reproductions to scope them out and save some time. Price was competitive. Here are some comparison pics of original factory ends and Clarks. I have to say that I am initially i...

Re: OPGI Quick Steering arms

I agree that it will be a big "yawn" if they are the same as Clarks as Clarks is my first choice most of the time anyway. I've gathered plenty of aftermarket short arms over the years so no real excitement there. I hope that if someone decides to gamble and buy a pair that they will set us...

OPGI Quick Steering arms

Anyone have any knowledge of or comments on the Quick Steering Arms offered by OPGI? They seem to imply that they are Factory Repops....
