One more thing to add: the plugs I use are AC 44 FF, and all 6 are burning very light mocha color, no oil on the plugs.
Should I use a colder plug?

Oil puke out dipstick
Car: 1963 Turbo Issue: Oil spewing out dipstick tube (I think). My 63 Turbo was bought with unknown history and unknown true mileage. It ran OK, but felt tired. Brakes were shot, now replaced and upgraded to dual master. I decided to help the motor out a little. First came electronic ignition from C...

4 speed and differential oil change
Need help on changing oil in my 1963 4 speed and diff. I am fairly certain of the drain holes, they are actually facing each other on bosses threaded with a square drive plug. What I am not totally certain of is the fill holes. Can anyone please send a photo of where the filler holes are located? Th...

Re: Dual master cylinder conversion
Tipping sounds very smart. I intend to do that too. I really hope that is all the problem is!

Re: Dual master cylinder conversion
Thanks. The brakes are all assembled and adjusted correctly, with just slight drag as you suggest. I am very familiar with working on old cars, so I am OK there. Your comment on the master is also where my brain was going. Much as I hate to do it, I may remove the master and re-bleed it in a vise us...

Dual master cylinder conversion
Some time ago I purchased a 1963 Monta Spyder Convertible from a broker who got it from a deceased collector. It is a concourse correct survivor except it had a color change repaint years ago (lacquer) that was done so well that no one can find evidence of the original Gold. Now it is Ivy Green. Any...

Re: Oil loss
THANK YOU! This will be very helpful. I suspected a crankcase ventilation issue but being new to Corvair's wasn't sure where to start looking. This is very much appreciated.

Re: New Corvair Owner
I have the Clark's quick shifter on one of mine. It does tighten things up and decreases throw noticeably, pretty nice. Just know your entire shifter Box on the floor will be taller but that is no big deal. The issue I have with the kit is, the extension has two grub screws to cinch it onto the exis...

Re: '64 Spyder exhaust shield ?
I put one on my '63 Spyder. Not in the books but only takes minutes to apply and doesn't get in the way of anything. Makes sense, I would do it.

Oil loss
New member from California here. I have two 1963 Spyder convertibles. I just replaced the entire braking system, hard lines and all, as well as springs and shocks and new radial tires on one. It runs great, rides and drives great. Having lots of fun. The oil pan used to leak terribly, clearly had hi...
