Re: Priming lifters

So you know what I'm doing, I have a lifter knock. I figure either a lifter is dieing or rocker arm is broken or loose. I never bandaid anything so I have new lifters and rockers, I forgot to order rods so I'll check these (didn't I say I don't like to bandaid things?) As far as the exhaust, the poo...

Re: Priming lifters

I'm with y'all on this I've built plenty of chevy motors in the past. But never this one. It didn't make sense to me, so I thought I'd ask y'all. I've never seen any info put out by y'all that was wrong or questionable to me. Much respect! I just figured I better ask just in case there's some magica...

Priming lifters

Ok I read somewhere that priming the hydraulic lifters is not recommend when replacing them. In the past when building motors that's something I've always done. Am I behind times or is there something different about the corvair that I haven't seen yet. Also I've decided to go with headers and the h...

Re: "Unsafe To Carry"

:whoa: Over the years, U-Haul has developed an established list of vehicles they don't want to deal with. The Ford Explorer and Corvair are two such vehicles on their list. Years ago the Ford Explorer developed a bad reputation for rolling or crashing when a tire failed. A series of accidents invol...

Re: crane electronic ignition question.

I found no problems with the lines. The pump that was in it hadn't been put in correctly and your right about the bolt. So I put this pump in. When I checked to see if it was pumping it seems the diaphragm rod is binding occasionally. Not sure how that is happening, but I guess that is why it's work...

Re: crane electronic ignition question.

Update on the fuel issue. I've never seen a mechanical fuel pump work one second and not the next. But that seems to be what's happening. So ordering another one from Clark's and I'm gonna take this one apart to see why.

Re: crane electronic ignition question.

Awesome guys! This is what I needed to know. I was pretty sure it served more than one purpose but I had never encountered a situation like this. Sadly though I'm having what seems to be fuel issues now. fuel pump is working, spark is working, battery is fine, I'm thinking that it sucked some garbag...

crane electronic ignition question.

I installed an electronic ignition. Everything went well except one thing bothers me, the cam lubrication wick bolt. Can i remove that because it comes really close to the shutter. Now that the points are removed there is no need for this that I know of, but im not sure if something else might be ef...

Re: Seat upholstery pattern

That's what we were asking for was if there was patterns out there already or if someone had old covers the wanted to get rid of. We are still shopping materials so we still have time. The car can be down for a while, I've got my bike to ride. I would just rather it wasn't. Our headliner is in great...

Re: Seat upholstery pattern

As a matter of fact 66vairguy, I'm glad you mentioned the UV protected material. Because it had slipped my and my wife's mind. Because we were thinking of using material we had for the metallic orange. We don't remember if it's UV or not.
