63 Coup Body weight
I have a 63 coup and was wondering what the stripped body weight might be. My guess is 800-1000 lbs.

Re: NOS cylinders in GM Boxes
Thanks for the info. As this build is for a friend and has a good budget, I was going to balance the rotating assembly anyway. It is a standard trans and we want it to run smooth. He's building for his daughter to drive, not a show car but it's going to be a complete restore. I don't know too much a...

Re: NOS cylinders in GM Boxes
I don't have my parts book handy. The GR 0.30 is the GROUP number. All Corvair pistons were std. AFAIK. DO BEWARE - GM matched piston weights in opposing pairs NOT as a set of six. The NOS pistons (in the cylinders) should have an INK number on top of them for the weight category (not the actual we...

NOS cylinders in GM Boxes
I came across 6 cylinders with pistons and rings in GM boxes on Craig's list. Can anyone tell me what they will fit. The number on the boxes are 3869276, GR 0.030. So I'm going to guess they are 0.30 over. I would like to use them on a 63 motor. Any info will help. Thanks

Re: 63 Project in Las Vegas
Do not try to start it with the old gas, it is known to cause the valves to stick, bending pushrods and pushrod tubes! Someone on here (Brad Bodie probably!) has a list of how to awaken a sleeping Corvair and common items that will need attention. No. Not even going to try starting it. It's been si...

63 Project in Las Vegas
Hi all from Las Vegas NV, A friend approached me to rebuild/restore his father’s 63 Corvair. His dad bought it new and maintained it pretty well over the years but it’s been sitting in a barn for some time and he wants to give it to his daughter. That being said, he wants it to be her daily driver a...
