Re: 140 miss at constant speed only

[/quote] Agree, although I occasionally find a bad vacuum advance unit causing a problem. Point is -- Don't make up your mind until you check everything! I did not notice anyone bring up the rubber couplings at the vacuum balance tube to the carburetor pads. I must admit to forgetting about these an...

Re: shocks and springs 65 Corsa

My experience is only with their newer ones (not the former Red Rider or adjustable Stryder). Part number C2819 and C2820.

Re: shocks and springs 65 Corsa

I installed the Clark's regular shocks in my car (LM coupe and previously in a LM 4 door). Of course, they're great quality and were easy to install. For being the regular (not gas) shocks, they were a bit stiffer than I anticipated but I'm okay with that.

Re: 140 miss at constant speed only

Maybe it's the vacuum advance acting up? It's free to test at least! If you're pulling the drivetrain anyway, taking that head and checking is probably a good idea, and it's definitely not out of the question that it could be the problem.

Re: RR Block Listed on e-bay at the moment.

I just can't picture myself lifting the lid to show someone my crankcase suffix. I'm more the type to pick a 95 PG crankcase for a race engine because it probably had an easy life. To each his own I guess. I should be happy whenever Corvair stuff is valuable. Jim Brandberg Jim, I agree with you! I ...

Re: When Valves Don't Measure Up Part 2

I've pulled heads apart where the grooves in the valve for the keeper were almost worn through. Is that common? That would make the valve spring installed height keep getting bigger until it dropped. Yikes! That might be a problem. Was this on valves with the multiple grooves or the single groove o...

Interesting notes Ken. I appreciate your in depth photos too, as that does a great job of illustrating the concepts.

Re: New Fuel Injection Build

What a great video!! Every single person who has gone through an initial startup has said the same thing, and it is such a great feeling when it fires and runs!! Nice job!! No doubt about that! As far as using Holley jets for the PCV, I feel like I've seen people do that (maybe even epoxying and ta...

Re: Clarks front shock absorbers

I have Clark's shocks all around, but the regular version, not the gas. They're good shocks and installation was a snap. They are firmer than I expected so it makes me wonder how much firmer the gas version is?

Re: Painting on anodized wheels

Craig, that's a good question. It seems I read at one time that the wheels were anodized but that could be completely false (and my memory could be fuzzy)! I'll take some photos of what they look like now after I give them a wash.

Re: Painting on anodized wheels

yellow can Easy Off oven cleaner gets the old anodizing off, then you can clean and prep for paint. Suggest you experiment on a small area first. Good discussion on the H.A.M.B. here https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/removing-anodizing-with-oven-cleaner.687718/ . Thanks! I've read that it...

Painting on anodized wheels

I just posted on Facebutt and want to ask here as well. I picked up some Pontiac GTA/Trans Am wheels (16x8") but some of the color is faded. I know anodizing was used to color them so I'm wondering if I can paint over the anodization? Obviously I'd clean and possibly lightly sand for the paint ...

Thanks for sharing. It looks like the d compound already has the cutouts for the belt? If so, nice touch!
