Re: Electric Fuel Pump Question
I don't believe that fuel can pass from an electric pump through a disabled mechanical Corvair fuel pump, because the internal one-way valves in the Corvair mechanical pump would block fuel flow. Nope! The fuel flows through the mechanical just fine, as that is the normal direction of fuel...

Re: Electric Fuel Pump Question
Well, what is you reason for wanting an electric fuel pump? 1. Vapor lock correction 2. Avoid mechanical pump leaks 3. Avoid prolong cranking after a rest 4. Because Steve Goodman does it If #2 is important, then keeping a mechanical pump in circuit defeats that. Use a bypass plate. If #1 and #3 ar...

Listen to either of the mentioned sources for 5 minutes and you'll see he is correct. BTW, he is not correct either! :rolling: :rolling: :rolling: :rolling: :rolling: :rol...

And we do not have to drive around in unexploded bombs either. Ah, you are right, we should get that FUEL tank out of our Corvairs right now. I've seen movies. Internet says between 10 and 14 sticks of dynamite per gallon of gasoline is equivalent explosive force. But, you do have to atomi...

10 AWG is RED.
And it looks like the two 14 AWG wires are RED and WHITE. Hey I typed WHITE, but it is hard to read!
This is just to match the most common Delco 10 SI alternator pigtail wire colors. Electrons are color blind...

Re: 140 miss at constant speed only
Ah, that is not how I read it. I read the parenthetical expression buy itself, as in do not open the secondaries unless you are doing over 70 MPH, ever. I like to open them right off the line myself.... :chevy: So we are in agreement. Secondaries should be closed until asked to open by the driver, ...

You should have asked here about the tool (besides the very wide screwdriver I have used for years...). A club member makes them, Russell Davis, Blue Chip Tools. https://www.bluechiptools.com/ You can buy them from him or Clarks. He can tell you a lot about those that do not fit, hence why he start...

Re: 140 miss at constant speed only
the secondary carburetors are closed fully. There should be no or only a slight air flow at idle and make sure they don't open until about 2/3rds gas pedal depression (do not open at highway speeds of less than 70MPH 70 MPH? Then you might as well have a 110 HP if you drive around town, st...

Re: $68 Autozone Alternator
I agree, a quick call to your state tax department (quick? usually ) will answer the question if they can actually do that.
Not that I would bother going back since you get proper service form the other suppliers.

That's true, the dishwasher does not make all the best parts magically get on one cover! And the rims are the most curb-rashed pieces. Hard to get good ones from cars that were driven.

Re: Automatic transmission
Yes to the cable, as a hole there will let the red stuff out, but..... Any automatic transmission that is not run for a while can do a leak on the floor. Usually it's the torque converter seal that gets weak (stiff) and starts to let air into the torque converter. Remember the putting your t...
