Re: Cylinder Head Temp Gauge - 66 Corsa

Thanks for all the help. Just to close this out, I did get out on the highway and warmed it up. It is as you said, and the needle sticks. I am guessing a dash pull is in my future, but for now a simple tap seems to do the trick

Re: Cylinder Head Temp Gauge - 66 Corsa

ok...so I redid my test and it all works as mentioned above. with a little help from my finger tapping the gauge (a tip I received from a friend in the corvair club) the gauge climbed to over 600 when the thermistor was grounded to the chassis. Went back to below 200 (with a little more help) when r...

Re: Cylinder Head Temp Gauge - 66 Corsa

thanks for the info...so it seems at least that I have continuity through the gauge. So I tried what 63spyderd suggested and ground my gauge from that same wire to the battery, and turned the key to on...the gauge jumped to 300, but didnt go any further, and it doesnt go back to 200 now either when ...

Re: Cylinder Head Temp Gauge - 66 Corsa

Hi there, So I am having a similar issue with my head temp gauge on my 65 corsa. I took all the advise here and applied it :) The thermister seems to be working fine registers between 1920 and 1550 (there abouts) cold...warmed it up a bit and it goes down to about 620 (just letting it idle in the dr...

Re: New Owner from Michigan

Wanted to thank Brad (bbodie52) and BobWitt for the diagrams and the suggestion to look at the coil...sure enough the brn/w wire was on the positive side, switched it over and the tach is now working

Re: New Owner from Michigan

Thanks Brad...the schematics are great. So based on what you said and what I see in the schematics it looks like I have the brn/w hooked up correctly. I am getting power to the b/p wire so kind of thinking when they re-wired the car they hooked up the tach based on the shop manual which has those wi...

Re: New Owner from Michigan

Thanks Bob, I do have an original Corsa (VIn starting with 107...). I originally started with looking under the dash at that harness because when fiddling around under there to find my temp gauge wires, I saw the tach move, so figured I must have power getting to at least that point. I think I have ...

Tach not working

So, I got my wayward tach to respond by running a wire directly from the coil to the gauge (found some old 20ga wire and just connected it). I am tracing backward from the harness to see where I can pick up a signal, but if I cant find it, I was thinking of just running a wire directly to the gauge,...

Re: New Owner from Michigan

Thanks Bob, that is pretty much what I was thinking for the gas line too.

And I hope to not change my belt for awhile too :)

Re: New Owner from Michigan

Ha...well I am not planning on getting rid of the 4bbl set up just yet. I have other things to work on. Mine runs on the rich side as well. The car actually has a Sun Fuel Mixture gauge inside but it doesn't work, so I am thinking it is just for show, but may try to hook it up at some point. The big...

Re: New Owner from Michigan

Thanks Bob. I am in Rochester Hills. I will try to make the Nov 7th gathering. I would love to bring the car to the meeting and have folks give me some advice since I am new at all of this, but will have to see how the weather is. It doesn't like the cold very well.

Re: New Owner from Michigan

Thanks Brad for the comments and the links! and yes this little car definitely likes the warm weather (which is fine as I wont be driving it in the winter)...will probably put it away in a month, but want to be able to drive it around and fix a few things before that. I will post some other question...

New Owner from Michigan

Hello all. I bought my first corvair after many months of looking for something unique but not super expensive to maintain. I am hoping I did the right thing by getting a corvair. I have a 1965 Corsa convertable with the original 140 hp engine but it has an aftermarket 4bbl carb setup. The owner bef...
