Thermister Wiring 64 Spyder

The gauge on the car does not work, I have bench tested it when I had the dash out and it is good so I start at the thermister and trace the wire. Under all the tape the wire hooks up with 2 wires. One I assume by the looks continues to the dash. The other wire loops back and is attached to the plus...

Re: Axle Dipstick

OK, so the one in there now is 14 1/2, same as the oil dipstick. I made one 19" and now it shows full ! I hope that this was the cause of the leak.

Re: Axle Dipstick

Thanks, I have a 4 speed but I would assume they share the same axle. I also read that the 4 speed transmission and axle share the oil, strange because both have their own plug but it would make sense if when used with the powerglide the axle would be separate oil.

Axle Dipstick

64 Spyder. I need to know how long the axle Dipstick should be. I think someone put an oil dipstick in my car causing me to over fill the axle and have it all leak out within a day. The dipstick in there now is the exact length as the oil dipstick. I had filled it through the dipstick tube, today th...

64 Spider Trip Odometer

In the process of redoing the dash gauges etc and the dash I picked up came with a flexible trip odometer reset. My car did not have one so my question is where do I secure the knob end and is there a matching knob that goes on it or is it just left as is.
Thanks.

Corvair Mechanic in MA.

1964 Spyder So my spring project because of oil dripping out of the bell housing is to drop the engine and replace gasket, and seals, etc. Pretty sure I can do it but at (64 years old, that's me) I would rather pay to have the work done. Is there a garage located in Massachusetts that knows how to w...

Removing Steering wheel and column

1964 Spyder
I'm in the process of painting all the interior metal. Next project is the steering column. If I remove the outside wiring and remove the bracket and bolts at the base will I be able to remove it ? Or do I need to do more ?

Testing Gas Tank Float

I have the car on a lift and while I'm under here I'm not sure if the gas gauge works so I want to check the float. I know the tank is full so what reading should I get on my muti-meter when testing it? I'm sure someone knows and I'm too lazy to figure it out.

Rear roll up windows, 64 Convertable

The rear windows roll up too far and will be hit by the door window if I don't back them down a bit. I have the back apart but it is hard to look inside to see if there is some type of stop I can adjust. Does anyone have any experience with fixing this issue ? Thanks for any help you can give.
