Re: Corvair Playlist - what do you listen too?
Driving and rocking out are two of my favorite things and they go so well together. I have a convertible so let's cover the spring/summer, top down songs first: Mr. Blue Sky - ELO (first song on the list, especially for that first spring day) Ragtop Day - Jimmy Buffett Sunshine Day - Brady Bunch (ye...

Re: LM guys with the 7" and 8" wide wheel setup, got a question.
This is an excellent thread full of great information. As I plan my LM build I've bookmarked this one to come back to when I get to the point of buying wheels and tires. Thanks to everyone who has shared their experience and knowledge. On a forum for a different marque that I follow there is a secti...

Re: Video of my 66 corsa
While 15 inch performance tires are getting scarcer as the rage is now 19+ inch wheels, there will continue to be a strong market for 15 inch performance tires for theforeseeable future as 15 inch is the largest diameter allowed for most first and second generation Miatas for SCCA SOLO I/II autocros...

[emoji106] Looking good!
Is that a tan interior? Please post some interior shots.
I'm at the other end of my '65 convertible project - still soda blasting and considering interior/exterior colors and trim.

Re: Thunder Kiss '65 Project
Talking of cool details: its also got this old High School parking permit sticker, in the windscreen (English for windshield) I realize this thread is old, but wanted to point out that the car wears an Indiana license plate in some of the photos. There is a Mater Dei high school in Evansville that ...

Re: U Haul Towing
That's a slick WDH setup. I've never seen that before - very clever. If I was in the market I'd certainly give it a try. I have a Reese knock off of the equalizer with spring bars that slide on brake pads attached to the trailer. It works well and is quiet, but it does limit angles when backing up a...

U Haul Towing
azdave says [quote="azdave"]Here's my "evil" setup. ::-): Iol - that looks like a nice rig. I've never towed with an extended Ford van, but I've read many horror stories on RV forums about them. The general consensus is that if you need an extended van to tow with you should go w...

U Haul Towing
The keys to stable towing are a long wheelbase, a short distance between the rear axle of the tow vehicle and the hitch ball (why fifth wheels are best and Ford extended vans are evil) and keeping the center of gravity in front of the trailer wheels. I just towed a 65 convertible 250 miles loaded fr...

Re: Easy LED Headlight Upgrade
There are many 5.75" LED lamps available for motorcycles that could be adapted. If you put an LED bulb in a halogen reflector you and everyone you meet on the road will be less than satisfied with the result. The location and size of the LEDs is different than that of the filament in a traditio...

Welcome fellow Hoosier. Looks like a nice list of upgrades you have there, I'm sure your son will love it. I did notice your mention of headlights and thought you might be interested in a write up I did of installing projectors. I drive in the dark a lot and they work great even with non-HID bulbs ...

Re: Greetings from Indiana!
Thanks everyone. I pulled the trigger on the '65 Monza. Going to go pick it up this weekend before I leave for a week-long trip. As I mentioned earlier it's in primer, but solid other than needing patch panels at the front of the front fenders. Once I get back I'll take and share some pictures. Sent...

Greetings from Indiana!
Thought I'd introduce myself after lurking for a couple of months. Apologies in advance for the length, but I wanted to share some background and what I'm thinking so you can provide input. I've gotten the itch to do another car project and my son (14) has been on me to build a car. After some resea...

Re: Affordable Plasma Cutter
I bought a similar Zeny Cut-50 unit from Amazon for $260. Once I tested that it worked I replaced the six foot 14 gauge power cord with a 25 foot 12 gauge cord so I can move it to a project anywhere in the garage. Very useful and relatively precise tool. Wish I'd bought one years ago. Sent from my i...
