Re: JC's '67 500 coupe

Got the new sender float from LS Corvairs today (thanks!) and got the sender installed. Just need gas! Checked all the fuses, found that the wiper motor does work, sorta....doesn't really park, and seemed to slow down the more I ran it :/ I can hear the washer pump kicking in. A new fuse gave me das...

Re: JC's '67 500 coupe

Trunk floor is good! Trunk lid is not so good. Got the gas tank in today, minus sender- float turned out to be cracked. Bah! Pulled the belly pan, got the clutch cable back on its pulley. Checked power at the fuse block, still don't know why it starts and runs, but I have no headlights, turn signals...

Re: JC's '67 500 coupe

Finally making some progress again, sold my Roadrunner which was consuming the garage, got the 'vair in there last weekend. Brakes are all bled and working properly. Pulled the gas tank- it's toast. Have a new one from Clark's here. Got the car tagged and insured (that's motivational!). Got the prop...

Wow! When they get done, they'll likely have "billions....and billions" of hours in that ::-):

Re: JC's '67 500 coupe

Started the floorboard project today, got most of the passenger side out. I think I inhaled most of the rust dust  funny how the galvanized supports stay so nice, as the floorboards rot right off the top of them! Most of the spotwelds weren't that great, either. http://i362.photobucket.com/a...

Doing floorboards on LM...best place to support car?

Just started cutting away what's left of my front floorboards on my '67....maybe I should have my jackstands somewhere else?

Re: JC's '67 500 coupe

Well, I need to bleed the brakes a bit more before taking a spin around the 'hood :whoa: But I think the MMO is starting to work its magic....I took this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIULkZ-Ejk4 and on the next start the loudest lifter has quieted :tu: Still seems a bit loud at the driver's ...

Re: JC's '67 500 coupe

I'll keep trying it for a few days...maybe the MMO will help it now that it's been run for a bit. Here's to hoping!

Re: JC's '67 500 coupe

Ah, finally some progress resurrecting this long-dormant 'vair! Finished rebuilding the carbs (kits thanks to Rafee). Haven't got the sender out to check the tank yet, so I dropped a fuel hose into a can of gas at the front. Cranked it long enough to get the rust and varnish out of the lines, then h...

Awesome! This article helped me decode my trim tag. And I used to have a '67 Camaro RS/SS 350 in Royal Plum....a most uncommon color!

Woohoo!

Ah, victorious against two problems tonight! Managed to get a wrench far enough up under the front seat to get the bolts out :tu: Oh...there's four of them at the rear :banghead: Got 'em all! Looks like only the front floorboards will need replacing. Secondly, got that worrisome locking gas cap off!...

Re: JC's '67 500 coupe

Can't even see them at the moment....guess I'll have to rip out the rest of the rear rubber mat , then maybe I can see how far under the seat they are. I thought I could gauge that from under the car, but I don't see that the rear bolts protrude thru the floorpan....?

Re: JC's '67 500 coupe

Got the remnants of the rear seat back out today after work, and vacuumed up about 10lbs of sound deadener, cardboard stuff, and petrified carpet bits. Still can't get the front seat out...have the front bolts out, but the seat adjuster won't budge and I can't move the seat forward to get to the rea...
