@ponyguru, Here is a photo of the harmonic balancer with the witness marks circled in red and they are aligned (good). It also has "circles" (highlighted in yellow) like yours which are balancing marks where material was removed as needed.

Re: Convertible prices. Am I being realistic?
That price range should fetch you a decent car but it will be in your best interest to find one for sale by owner. The secondary market where a dealer or broker buys and resells to make profit has been increasing the past few years. Shipping cost would be additional (in my thinking process). Posting...

Brown EFI - care to share your settings?
Greetings. I am helping a newbie Corvair owner get his ‘66 110 with Brown EFI tuned properly. Ted helped us solve the “engine dies when put into drive” issue by remotely getting into the TunerStudio SW on my laptop. I want to continue the tuning efforts. I would think that the end users would be abl...

Re: Loose Deep Valve Seats
...snipped... I've never understood using 140HP heads for turbo applications. Yes they flow more, but doesn't a turbo overcome pumping losses of the small valve heads? The 140HP head has less material around the BIGGER valve seats and that isn't good for dissipating valve and seat heat. The other t...

Re: Question about running a turbo motor without exhaust..
If you mean no crossover and up pipe, I doubt there will be much air flow through the YH. Better to use 2 known good carbs to start it and run demo for video. Just my

Re: New owner here- couple questions
Welcome  Do post photos... that’s always a hit here. These troubleshooting steps were posted by someone else so I’ll quote them. Unplug the sender wire. Gauge should read Full or beyond. Ground the sender wire and the gauge should dread empty. If it passes these tests, the sender is bad or the...

The shim is shown as 4.085 on this diagram. The 4spd has a thick washer on the other side but I don’t know about the PG.

Re: Engine Stand, easy question to answer
Think that "adapt & overcome" should be added to the subject of this thread. The ATV/Motorcycle jack and a variation of the Fitch cart keeps engine steady and allows work on the exhaust logs, heads, pushrod tubes, cylinder/piston assemblies etc. My safety protocols call for mult...

Re: Broken Rings, piston and pushrods
I purchased the car a year ago, so this could have been brewing long before I got the car. My bet is that the previous owner was having mucho fun with that 140 while he had it (that's what they are designed for i suppose). It has been slowly getting worse and now you have uncovered the damage. Dave...
