Re: New to the Forum

Welcome and wow, what a beautiful car! There's a lot of great info on this site and I've found Corvair owners are second to none when it comes to helpfulness. Local Corvair Club is a great place to start for any issues.
Where did you get that carpet for you trunk? I need one of them for mine.

Re: 67 Corvair advice needed

I'd strongly suggest you see if he'll get you more pictures/ videos of the car or even do a "video chat". It could help you focus on areas of the car you have concern over. I have seen it a few times but never been under it or anything. It is a sharp looking car and has a great exhaust ton...

Re: 67 Corvair advice needed

Did he ever reply to you? It's a good looking car and sounds nice. The owner would definitely be the one to speak with. I don't really know too many specific details. I know he has done a lot of work on the car.

I stumbled on this post. I know a little bit about that car and it's owner. Did you manage to get in contact with him?

Re: (Minor) Blow-By and Crankcase Ventilation Questions

Okay, hot valve adjustment finished. I did have one valve that when I tightened it would stop tapping then slowly begin to tap again. If I tightened more, it would start to miss so I was able to realize when it was too tight. I've had problems with the tapping on that cylinder in the past but it was...

Thank you Brad. Guess my plan is the adjust valves and go from there.

Re: (Minor) Blow-By and Crankcase Ventilation Questions

Low compression is possible with several possibilities. 1. Poor ring 2. Valve leaking 3. Head gasket. 4. Cracked head or cylinder A leak down test would help narrow the items. Air pressure is put into the spark plug hole with the piston near top dead center. A leak down gauge is used (many auto par...

Re: (Minor) Blow-By and Crankcase Ventilation Questions

UPDATE: Okay so, finally (a year later) got around to the compression check. Been just driving the car and enjoying it and dealing with the above stated issue, which, as I mentioned, was basically an annoyance. Numbers don't lie! #5 piston is at about 50 psi while the rest are all in the 150-170 ran...

Re: Ignitor Conversion preparation

That definitely helps thanks! I hope to do the work tomorrow or this weekend so I may have some follow up questions but I think I've got pretty much all I'll need if it goes as it should.

Re: Ignitor Conversion preparation

First off, thank you all for the responses. I'd love to go for one of the stingers and it may be something I do off in the future but for now, the Ignitor is where i'm at and glad to hear the flamethrower I have should work. Please forgive my ignorance but I'm still learning... So the black with yel...

Ignitor Conversion preparation

Hi All, I did do my research but I wanted to maybe get some advice here before I attempt the upgrade. I know every situation is different. First off, '65 110/pg Currently using points but ready to put in the petronix ignitor (1162a) It has a flamethrower 1.5 ohm already installed by p/o. (see image)...

Here's a great site for more information.

Watch The Outsiders (1983) and Fear (1996) for some good late model action. Sprung (1997) is on my list for the next one.

Although I have a 'vert, the coupes have always been the best looking in my opinion. Their all great, but my favorite of yours ... the gray late model. REALLY SHARP!

Re: ignition switch wiring curiosity

My guess matches yours: Someone needed to start the car without a key. Yeah, trying to imagine "oh crap lost my keys" now what...." The extent of my hot-wiring experience is on film where a guy rips two wires from under the dash and touches them together and viola! Either way, I have...
