Aftermarket Speedometer?
Has anyone used an auto meter or other speedometer in an em? I was planning on doing this and was wondering if there are any special parts or requirements. I have a 61 700, but was thinking of making my own bezel or using a turbo dash.

Re: Lifters noise at start up
Rotella? I run T4 10w-30 and some Lucas oil additive at every oil change. I'll admit the startup noise did get significantly less with the Lucas.TheCommish wrote:Florida heat is 90f-95f

Re: Lifters noise at start up
Mine does it sporadically. Time it sits doesn't seem to matter. Temperature doesn't either.TheCommish wrote:Since I put Diesel 15w40 in my 63, my lifters are real noisy, can I add a lifter additive, or accept this as a "Corvair" thing where oil drains out.

New Corvair Owner - Increasing Performance
I would go ahead and find yourself a Honda h23 and get to converting that to work with the corvair transaxle. If you're not a purist, that's the cheapest and easiest way to go. Bone stock 160hp with torque to match. You could even get it to run twin webers and maybe bump those numbers up. I should a...

Re: New Corvair Owner - Increasing Performance
Greetings all! I'm in the process of buying a 1966 Chevy Corvair 500 (4 door, hardtop) with the 110 hp engine and automatic transmission. I love the car and how unique it is, but I'd like to know more about increasing its performance, as 110 hp seems a little low for today's standards. It started o...

You technically don't even need a dwell gauge. You could adjust points with a feeler gauge.
You still need a timing light for modern vehicles too. So really there arent many of any specific tools needed for old cars.

Re: Wheels/Rims for 63 Corvair
Helllo, have in the meantime also checked some japanese wheels, but the problem with all of them: they have an offset of 35 - 40mm, what means i have to use adapter plates for getting the wheel out. For a 15x7 wheel this will be about 20mm (on each side) but i've heard that this would mean also rea...

Re: Weber carb fuel line routing
I've been using a braided stainless steel swagelok line as the master feed to the stock splitter. Has been working very well. I like that swagelok does not use those blue an fittings.

I like the gun metal ones a lot!
I have found that even newer nissans have the correct bolt pattern but not sure about the rest. Might be easy to find some 14" steelies.

Marvel mystery oil is good at loosening stick rings Sent from my iPhone using Corvair Forum mobile app I've heard that. The guys on the sohc4 (a vintage Honda motorcycle forum) deal with this all the time, engines that have been sitting out in the pines and whatnot. They have a whole formula for st...

The lesson learned here... absolutely remove plugs and spray some sort of lubricant (opinions vary) into each hole BEFORE rotating the engine. That's what I did with mine that had been sitting since 91 with mice living in the carburetors. So far, still running and well. Sent from my iPhone using Tap...

Everything corvair is standard, so probably homedepot. If not, fastenal or McMaster Carr.
