External cylinder head damage from mouse piss? (Yes I'm seri

Guys, I got it running today even with the ratty old carbs that have sat for 25 years. Afterwards I took everything apart to clean. What I found was severely damaged aluminum from mouse excrement. The cylinders cleaned up well, but there is no cutting through the aluminum oxidation. I soaked it down...

Re: What to do about bench seats eaten by rodents?

Thanks guys! Yeah the only local upholstery shop tends to take you over the coals. I had a recover done on a cb550 (nothing special) and it was like 225$.

What to do about bench seats eaten by rodents?

I know the covers are available, but what do you guys do for the cushions. I have half a cushion on my front seat and nothing on the back. The cotton(?) and tan fiber have been eaten or stolen by rodents. I was going to cover them myself, but I see clerks only has ass pads for the buckets. Sent from...

Re: Roof swap?

My sedan has a good rot hole in the underside of the roof area where it hangs over the rear window... I'm still trying to figure out what to do about that. The rest is all solid though....

Re: powder coating

You can't touch up scratched powder coat. Didn't you already mention that? Not necessarily true. I get my powders from prismatic and they will make paint versions of any powder they carry. At the end of the day, it's just like paint, you'll always have the "touch up" spot until you blast ...

Re: Hello from good ole NJ!

I found pictures of my grandfathers car. I wish I knew who had it now. Just to know its in good hands. He left the car jacked up and was brought to the hospital. We fixed the tank and parked it in his driveway which is when I took these pictures. Summer of 05. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016021...

Re: Selling Corvairs to pay for Az care

My name is Victoria and I have a 61 Rampside for sale and will be selling a 63 Turbo Spyder Convertible and a 64 Greenbrier. My father has Alzheimer's and I am raising money for his care. He and my grandfather have always been Corvair collectors. My grandfather has passed, but I will always remembe...

Re: Hello from good ole NJ!

Hi and welcome, that is a very rare Corvair, it is the only one I have seen with the optional Duct-Tape Trim. :rolling: Seriously though I like the sedans a lot, something about that roofline. Good luck with your new old car. Lol indeed. Honestly the only rust that worries me is a big hole under th...

Hello from good ole NJ!

I've been creeping for a while, but on Saturday I finally purchased a 1961 (not a Monza) 700 sedan. I'm a mechanic by trade, with a background in custom exhaust and welding so hopefully I can get this bad boy driving. The rust isn't terrible and I may even leave some of it. Floors are solid enough, ...
