Re: Oil Pressure, no flow?
Somebody asked me about the oil pressure regulator. Is this something that could be blocked and what would be the result?

Oil Pressure, no flow?
I have a 66 140 Monza. I have an after market oil pressure gauge where the stock gauge goes. It is registering 50 PSI. The lifters are loud and are usually quiet. I had just pulled the oil cooler and replaced it. Is it possible to have pressure but no flow throughout the engine? If the oil cooler ga...

Re: Help ID rear housing
Thanks for the reply. I am building a late model 140 crank and heads. Everything is in. New pistons, cam, and crank, and all is turning well. Put fan on and oil pan. Started on the rear housing and hit the cam. I want to use the late model housing, so if that will work, i will. Thanks. I really don'...

Help ID rear housing
These are the two housings I have to choose from on my rebuild. The right one (shiny) came off the block I am rebuilding. The problem is it won't go back on with the new 260 CAM. It hits the housing. You can see in the second picture that the old CAM rubbed on the housing too. Is there a difference ...

Re: Please ID this crank and engine
Ok. After some more digging and using your info, I have determined that one crank is a 64, 95 manual and the other is a 65, 110 PG. Either of these sound better.

Re: Please ID this crank and engine
I see at the bottom of the article that the 260 cam does not work well with the 140PG crank gear. I think this means I should use the crank out of my 110 PG engine. Another question. Are all cranks the the same, meaning 164cu in. both say 8049

Re: Please ID this crank and engine
I have on order a new 260 cam and gear with new lifters. Does this mean I can use the normal crank that I have? I also have a crank out of a 110 PG
engine. Would this be better?

Re: Please ID this crank and engine
Is there a way to tell if the gear is set for a PG? This came out of a 66 with a Crower CAM. This is a Franken-enging. I am planning on using 140 heads and keeping my PG. Will this work?

Please ID this crank and engine
This is what I have. I will not corrupt your thoughts with mine. What is this crank and engine block. Thanks for any info you can give. I looked a lot at info you guys have given to other members, but it mostly conflicts with what I see. HELP! The Crankshaft also says 8049. image1.JPG image2.JPG ima...

Re: Help with CAM
So after hearing your comments and doing a little research, I am thinking of going with the 260 cam and my PG. I was considering putting in a high stall torque converter. Do you think this will be necessary? My goal with this car is to get from 0-50 as fast a possible.

Help with CAM
This is the cam that I found in my Corvair. I was wondering why it would not idle less than 1200 rpm and would die when you put it in gear (PG). What do these numbers mean? thanks for the help. I think there is too much overlap. What cam would you suggest replace it? I want low end torque and not a ...

Valve seat?
Is this what it looks like when you drop a valve seat? Why did it hit the piston? The car was running great and parked it at work. Came out and it was missing. Compression test showed 70 pounds in cylinder 5. Wet test doubled compression. Thinking rings and I discover this. I am putting 140 rebuild ...

Re: Shaving Jugs
Thanks for the links. I am going to put on the 140 heads and block the secondaries for now. The fuel injection looks like a great idea. I do believe in computer controll (I know some you will cringe at that). I will be moving to electronic ignition soon, but the injection will have to wait. This car...

Re: Shaving Jugs
Thanks for all the input. This is making sense to me now. I have some 140 heads to put on this engine. I think I will get a valve job done and add that to the new ring job. I'm sure this alone will be a major improvement over the 50 year old engine. Thanks bbodie52 for the info. If you block off the...
