Sadly not, it was never on the road and dad had taken off lights, bumpers and plates. They were all with the car including the 64 spyder only wheel trims.

I have a '61 coupe but not UK registered yet, maybe next year.... However somewhere in the UK is my dad's old '64 spyder which I would love to find. It was a part of my childhood and the reason I set out to buy my own. It was white with a black interior and last seen on ebay in the early 2000's.

Shame I need loads of stupid little bits, not easy to get parts over here.

The key is to find a sensible garage, some testers fail a car for the fun of it! If they fail it often it is on a point that could be argued but it is less hassle to sort it than argue the point. Have you ran the engine for a while, up to temperature?
Does it have any oil leaks? You may want to change the push rod tube and oil cooler seals

VW used 5 lug hubs until the 68 model after which they were 4 lug. I have a 68 beetle which was the first year of the later upright headlight model and it has 4 lug hubs.
