Re: Are You Bored Yet??? Cylinder Boring
This is exactly what I was planning to do, as I live on the other side of the "pond" buying and shipping pistons is much more cost effective than pistons and cylinders. I have a lathe and mill at home and failing that a machine shop full of CNC machines at my business. I don't however have a boring ...

Re: My plans and thoughts about running for CORSA Western Director
Speaking as a British corvair owner I have considered joining CORSA a couple of times but what can the club offer me that this and the other forum don't? I love the community feel of the forums and the knowledge contained within, it would be a great shame if CORSA died off but I don't see what it ...

Re: California corvair parts
I would like to order parts from California Corvairs but no shipping to the UK, which is a shame because that is where I live!

Re: corvairs in the United Kingdom
Sadly not, it was never on the road and dad had taken off lights, bumpers and plates. They were all with the car including the 64 spyder only wheel trims.

Re: corvairs in the United Kingdom
I have a '61 coupe but not UK registered yet, maybe next year.... However somewhere in the UK is my dad's old '64 spyder which I would love to find. It was a part of my childhood and the reason I set out to buy my own. It was white with a black interior and last seen on ebay in the early 2000's.

Re: uk owner - rusty 500
The key is to find a sensible garage, some testers fail a car for the fun of it! If they fail it often it is on a point that could be argued but it is less hassle to sort it than argue the point. On the other hand it is a safety inspection at the end of the day so if there is a genuine fault you ...

:tu: nice to see another UK owner. Where in Cambridgeshire are you? I'm in bury st edmunds.
Have you ran the engine for a while, up to temperature?
Does it have any oil leaks? You may want to change the push rod tube and oil cooler seals
As you have the engine out.
I am near St Neots so not too ...

UK '61 monza
Following on from my intro thread I bought this '61. It was originally black with red interior but has at some point become white with black interior.

VW used 5 lug hubs until the 68 model after which they were 4 lug. I have a 68 beetle which was the first year of the later upright headlight model and it has 4 lug hubs.

Re: New member from the UK
Well after a few hours messing about with starters outside in the cold, (it was 60 degrees here last week, today it was 35!) I have not got very far. I took the starter apart and the only rebuilding it has had is a shiny coat of paint. So I changed the pinion gear and put it together. On refitting ...

Re: New member from the UK
Well that's interesting if it has 140hp cases, would be nice if it has the heads too!
Not suprised it should have a red Interior there is evidence of it, however the black exterior suprised me. I am away working on site this week so I will look further at the weekend.

Re: New member from the UK
I rolled it off the trailer and bump started it today and it ran OK but I couldn't run it for long because of the fuel leak. I took the starter off and the pinion gear didn't look too bad, not great but not terrible. The wiring is a mess so I wonder if it is not getting enough current to throw the ...

Re: New member from the UK
Well I bought the car and made it back in time, just! It is going to need some welding but I will start a different thread when I start it.
