Re: Backfire through carburator
I have a "Stinger" distributor from Perfvair. The one you referenced looks very similar, if not the same one. It states that all the electronics are self-contained in the cap, which makes it very easy to install. At that price, that is a great deal. Just make sure you ask the vendor what coil to use ...

Re: Upper and Lower Control Arms FC
I have installed the Tri 5 front disk setup from Summit (or?) a while back so I agree with the Impala/Belair reference. I would take the leap but I am not sure that a vendor would take back the kit once it was installed. Going stock is not an issue for me but it would be nice to modernize the Rampy ...

Upper and Lower Control Arms FC
As I get closer to driving my Rampside after many years of bring it back to life, I know the front end needs a complete rebuild. While all the parts are available from Clark's, etc. since the front-end is basically an early C10 (as I have been told), has anyone done a rebuild with tubular control ...

Re: Lacking power in all 4 gears
Along with the mechanical advance in the distributor, check the vacuum advance. Mine was stuck and I had no power at all.

Re: Gas in OIL
Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll drain it and add new oil as the final fill. I installed an electric kit front cincol a few weeks ago. I'm done with manual pumps.

Gas in OIL
I have unfortunately dealt with this before. My mechanical fuel pump leaked gas into the crankcase. I have resolved the fuel leaking issue. On the previous issues, I drained the gas, put new oil in along with a new filter, pumped it through the motor, drained it and then repeated the procedure. My ...

Re: Backfire through carburator
I have been following this thread and something finally clicked in my head. I had the same exact issue with my 110 Rampside. I beat my head against the wall for months trying to figure it out. In no particular order, I drained my gas tank, changed the plugs, set the timing (hundreds of times), set ...

Re: Switched Power on 63 Rampside
A club member has an old box with the clip and lugs. He will drop it in the mail this week. In the meantime, I will clean the clips the best I can until I get a new replacement. I saw the ones on Clarks site but I couldn't comprehend or process spending $22 for the part and shipping. Frank, I do not ...

Re: Switched Power on 63 Rampside
Thanks Craig. Yes, I saw that tab on the Heater fuse. I don't know why I didn't test it for switched power. There's also a constant power tab next to the Heater Blower position (left side of the fuse). I wondered how to complete the fuse locations although I thought the missing part was broken off ...

Switched Power on 63 Rampside
While not the highest priority to get my Rampside on the road, since the weather is so bad I decided to install an aftermarket radio. I will not do any damage to the dash, etc. I also know that the original fuse block is old and in need of cleaning or, better yet, replacement. I will do one or the ...

Hi Matthew, Like others, I never met your father, but I talked to him several times about Corvair related stuff and Durango. I have been to Durango three times visiting a friend who lives there. I asked Tim if he knew my friend, but it seemed their paths did not cross. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my ...

Re: Are the ebay electronic distributors for corvairs any good?
I have one of Seth's original Stinger ignition systems, the one with all of the electronics inside the unit. I sent the unit back to Seth several times due to burnt out electronics. He repaired it every time but after the third time I was done with it, so I shelved it. Then Seth posted an update ...

Re: Lots of smoke the BAM it quits
There's a Corvair guy who lives between Fenwick and Milton (I'm fairly certain). I am trying to find his username but I think it was on the other forum. I think it is Sarge something. If I remember correctly, he was a really good Corvair mechanic. I think he has a white LM vert. I will try to find ...

Re: Fuel pump controller alternatives - "A Primer" (wink wink)
I am in the process of installing an electric pump on my Rampside. I have had 3 manual pumps in it that all failed and it is still not road ready. I am done with manual pumps. I am not a purist. I want a reliable safe vehicle to have fun in. I am in the Craig's camp on this. I have the knowledge and ...

Re: Seat belt mounting points 63 Rampside
Hi Andrea, Rita and I would have loved to have attended the meeting. We miss all of the club members. We probably would have been able to finish my electric fuel pump installation and fix the PG cable leak easily especially on a lift instead of laying on my back in the garage. But the drive from ...
