Re: Garden Variety 1964 Monza Convertible

This is more the actual Ember Red color. Of course mine is a bit too red and not the more correct tomato red shade. The 1964 Monza wearing the paint shade pictured above is just a plain wrong way too bright red.

Re: Garden Variety 1964 Monza Convertible

I was figuring the "OE" might be the last week of October 1963. I know, it doesn't compute. Maybe the guy was in a hurry or not concentrating when he stamped it and left off the number one? So then my car must be real special. Thanks.

Re: Car wants to puke out while making a left turn on accleration.

Thanks again. Checking now for the condition of the vacuum lines, choke pull offs, point gaps and the whole shebang. It is interesting that Brad Bodie sent me information on the local club the NEWCC. I was a long time member since 1982, but gave up that do-nothing club about five years ago. Nothing ...

Garden Variety 1964 Monza Convertible

Could you give me a decode on this Fischer Body tag? The car is being sold after owning it for over 36 years. I pretty much know what the numbers and letters come out to, but what the heck, here it is anyways and make it official. Thanks folks.

1962 Corvair Motorola AM radio

This I just found interesting. An aftermarket Motorola brand push button AM radio in a 1962 Monza for sale on CL. You can see it has a different face plate that more or less mimics the pattern of the original one. The knobs are another thing. I have a Motorola AM radio from a 1966 late model Corvair...

Re: Car wants to puke out while making a left turn on accleration.

Thanks for the response. My ignition system is basically stock. Many years ago I changed out the points plate with a new and improved one. The vacuum modulator is "newer" too. No doubt the best way to go about solving my problem, as you listed, would be to give this car a complete tune up....

Car wants to puke out while making a left turn on accleration.

My 1964 Monza Powerglide runs decent enough but seems to hiccup while turning left from a standing start. Not so much for a doing right turn or straight acceleration. I have finally got the engine to not run on or ping when it shutting off. Yeah, race cars have had this problem at high speeds but ev...

Installing 1964 Corvair deck lid letters.

Does anyone have an easier way to install these? I bought the Clark's Corvair repro clips P/N C721A and am having a tough time putting them in. I know in the instructions included they suggest filing down the individual letter prongs or blades to get them to go into the clips. The paint around the s...

Re: Early convertible window regulator difficult to crank down.

I found a good window regulator from a 1963 convertible in the local salvage yard. It has been there almost 20 years and is mostly picked clean except for my precious regulator. What good luck, I just turned the window crank and it worked great and after a little cleaning and lubrication, it moves u...

Re: Early convertible window regulator difficult to crank down.

Thanks. I did replace the ventilator front channels top and bottom and the "fuzzy felt" material on the rear vertical run. This I first did on the drivers door. The widow glass actually separated from the bottom widow channel because the rubber type material holding the two together dried ...

Early convertible window regulator difficult to crank down.

The right (passenger) side door window cranks down really hard. I removed and cleaned and lubricated all pivot points and the gear teeth. It still barely moves on the up cycle. Cranking on the down cycle is a normal (easy) effort. Is it bent ? The gap looks the same between the two pieces where the ...

Re: Vertical Vent Window Seal (stiff seal)

Are you referring to Clark's part # C7644V "vertical strip" on page 226 of their catalog? I would call Clark's and ask if they have any idea of on how to install this piece. Maybe other customers have had questions on how to fit them and they have come up with a solution. Unfortunately I a...

Re: Installing door glass in an early convertible

Hey guys, no problem and thanks for the help. I figured it out myself. I loosely assembled the ventilator, or vent window, and put it in place before attempting to install the side glass. Next I rolled up the regulator mechanism up almost all of the way. Then I put the front roller in the front guid...

Re: What do you think? Oil from leak collecting in skid plate/drip pan.

Thanks for the image. Must have been an optical delusion. So okay, there cannot be plastic washers in my oil cooler ports. The distance between the outer edge and first recess is the same as the picture you provided. Not much of a space anyways, maybe two millimeters. The part where the seals go in ...
