Re: Ball joint for FC/ what reamer to use?
It is therefor possible that I tackle this upgrade before you do. My truck has its drivetrain out and the complete front suspension out. I am in the process of getting everything to the powder coater and rebuilding the front suspension. I am quite sure it has never been disassembled ( riveted on ...

Re: At a crossroads with the van
Kevin, all good points. That was the other thought I had in the back of my mind is that I could just park it in my father's pole barn until I can get to it down the road. I just figure if I'm not going to make significant/meaningful progress on it for a while there is no sense having it sit in the ...

At a crossroads with the van
Well, I've been doing some work on the van, removing bondo on the passenger side where there was some body damage. The good thing is there is no rust, all the underlying metal is really solid. the bad news is I think I would need to replace both of the side load doors, and repair or replace the ...

Re: Ball joint for FC/ what reamer to use?
I will be sure to report back once I can find something out. For now I'm focused on getting it running so it can move in and out of the garage under it's own power. Once I get the engine running I'll focus my attention on the suspension and brakes. Given how busy I am with work and family (son ...

Re: New artwork?
I like #5 and #6, both would work well on a decal or t-shirt, although the color printing might cost a bit more.

Re: Ball joint for FC/ what reamer to use?
I have a friend with a machine shop and the guy I bought my van from is partners with an acquaintance from my car club, they have a really nice machine shop, so I really just need to figure out what reamer I need and one of them should be able to hook me up with the equipment to get it done.

Re: Anyone out there with 17" wheels on an FC?
That's the game plan, but the white and lavender need to go, I will not drive it that way! :td:
It needs brakes and shocks, so I'm going to do all the suspension and replace every component in the braking system, do the dual MC upgrade and the drop spindles/front disc conversion, rebuild the rear ...

Re: Ball joint for FC/ what reamer to use?
Speedway motors sells reamers, and I assume some of the circle track shops have them. I think the biggest challenge is jigging the spindle so that the reamer is perpendicular to the hole as you indicated.

Re: Rampside Color Schemes - suggestions
I was just thumbing through the current issue of Super Chevy magazine, and there's a picture of a red rampy with white coves at a show in Arizona. I have to say it's a pretty fetching color on a rampside.

Re: Feeler on values for parts I may be selling
Scott,
That's pretty typical for my wife. If I want to spend money on anything other than a vacation to a warm sunny destination or a new coach purse for her (or something for the kids) I have to pry it from her hands. In fairness we agreed that she would handle the money a long time ago because ...

Re: Feeler on values for parts I may be selling
Kevin,
I'll definitely keep you and Dan in mind if I end up selling these parts. I'm still going back and forth about what I want to do. The Pro Touring thing would be awesome, but I'm starting to work up a budget for that build and it's probably north of 15k to do it right, I'm not sure I want to ...

Re: Anyone out there with 17" wheels on an FC?
Believe me, as soon as I have the time I'm busting out the sander and all that lavender paint will be the first thing to go!
I'm going to take it down to bare metal and prime it for now so I can identify any areas that need attention in the mean time. That lavender is really starting to gnaw at me ...

Feeler on values for parts I may be selling
I hope this is the right place for this discussion since some of these parts are no doubt FC-specific.
Since I am seriously contemplating going on a pro touring journey with my FC I would be selling the following parts:
- stock FC engine, long block w/o fan/shroud or generator. Most sheetmetal there ...

Re: Ball joint for FC/ what reamer to use?
I found a post elsewhere from someone who had done this conversion using Heidts spindles for a 55'57 chevy. They were able to bolt on the stock FC steering arms and all they had to modify was having the lower ball joint opening reamed at a local shop. I still haven't been able to find any more ...

Re: LS1/C5 transaxle swap?
A C5 is around 62". It's a bit wider, but with deep offset wheels it would probably fit. I do know that c6's have a narrower rear track, but I don't think anyone makes a standalone controller for the c6's trans. I want to use the c5 to be able to run the transaxle. With the ls1 bolted to it directly ...

Re: LS1/C5 transaxle swap?
Thanks for the link, that's very similar to what I'm thinking of, but mine would be a full-on pro touring build.
