Re: electrical issues
Thank you all for the information / I have all my lights working now. Out of curiosity - why would Chevy design the marking lights to not be on when the headlights are on - and - only be on when the headlight switch is in parking light mode (halfway pulled out)? Before about '68-'69, DOT didn't req...

Re: best way to wake up a 64 spyder after 9 yrs ?
I've never had a turbo model, but I would think it's not a bad idea to remove the oil feed line to the turbo (if it has one) and squirt some oil in the bearings before firing. I'd also pull the coil wire on the distributor and crank the engine until it builds oil pressure so the mains and rods are c...

Re: My present project
Dave, are you a member of any of the Goldwing BBs? What year is your 'Wing? I have a yellow '03 to go along with my '64 coupe and '59 Apache pickup.

Re: Under-Dash AC Project
Nope.. Everything except the under dash unit is from the Clark's AC kit. Expensive but worth it! Either I'm really dense (a distinct possibility) or Clark's on line catalog has to be the most user unfriendly thing in the ether world of digital data. A search of their site brings up zippo for anythi...

Re: Under-Dash AC Project
I've only needed to charge the A/C once since I got my sport sedan over three years ago. Removing a backup lamp to route the gauge hoses was no big deal. I guess it would be an issue if you had lots of leaks. I suppose one could always run a remote set of connections to the rear behind the license ...

Re: Under-Dash AC Project
OK, forgive the stupid question, but is that the correct/original condenser? The '64 that I recently purchased has A/C in it, but the condenser lays on top of the shroud and pretty much covers the whole engine. Not the prettiest set up, plus it makes it really difficult to see or do anything to the ...

Re: hide-a-key
Cool! LOL. Did you find your car here in town? I recently purchased a '64 coupe that had been sitting in a garage since the mid '80's. There are treasures hidden all over the place!

Re: Wanting Turbo Knowledge
Thank You for the information, Brad. The plan is to use the one I have stock, getting the buggy set up and running, while keeping my eye out for a reasonably priced later model one that already has turbo. I have limited knowledge on the inner workings of engines, and it is going to be a learning ex...

Re: Valve Job
Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the 140 head/seat issue. I had a '65 140 that dropped the same seat twice! Both times the seat survived the adventure in one piece. The second time I simply froze the seat, peened the seat bed to make the hole tighter, dropped the seat in place, and put it back tog...

Valve Job
Along with the purchase of my '64 came an extra pair of heads. Right now, the car is just sitting in the garage waiting it's turn for attention. LOL. The thought crossed my mind to have hardened seats put in the spare heads and have a valve job done at the same time. Then, when the time comes to get...

Looks great! Most of us here know what it's like to do that quality of restoration on a limited budget. Very nicely done.

If you find another complete one, I'm looking for the under dash vent assembly. I might be interested in what you have currently to complete mine.

I gotta admit; I don't particularly care for the looks of an early model 4 door, but the late models are pretty cool looking. Great project!
