I am not planning on pulling the heads of my engine, so It was easiest to do the entire block at once for me. My engine was leaking at the crank vent, the front seal, and the oil cooler. Between those three spots, my engine was pretty caked with gunk. I got about 90% of it off at the car wash.

Do yourself a favor, put the bell housing back on, and put the whole block assembly on an appliance dolly, get some engine degreaser, load it up, and take it down to your local coin operated car wash. What you can do in 10 minutes at a car wash will save you hours of scraping off the block. --C. Ala...
