Re: Philisophical Starter Question
Parts arrived today.
I am going to assume it doesn't need the bushing since it wasn't on there. I am concentrating on the clip. I have cleaned the starter and should have it running in a few.

Re: two fold oil question
Ken, I am confused. On one hand you mention Rotella 10-30 and then you refer to my reference to Rotella synthetic (T6) as Diesel Oil?

Re: Philisophical Starter Question
Hey! where did all you guys go? Your missing all the fun in the garage. I guess I'm the only one without a life on a Friday night. (Your prolly in your Corvairs, cruising as I contimplate grilling tomorrows steaks!) Anyway, this maybe the lamest question to date but is that Jesus clip that retains t...

Re: Philisophical Starter Question
The funny thing about all this is that when i was a kid my we had a junk corvair with the top cut off and we used to ride that thing all over the sand on Padre Island! I wonder if you can still do that? I wonder what the starter on that car looked like? we called it the dune buggy because for all in...

Re: two fold oil question
That was interesting! Back in the nineties when I was a young punk and i didn't know anything I just put Castrol 20-50 in my sweet Corvair. i don't think there was any forum i just put in what my dad said. It worked for a long time. We used to take the car (also a 1964 Monza) with four dudes in the ...

two fold oil question
I know this is probably a bit redundant but I run Synthetic Rotella (I think 15-40). I thought I didn't need to ad zinc if I ran this oil. Otherwise i would rather run Castrol Synthetic and just ad the zinc. I have always run Castrol in all my vehicles and it has been good to me. What do you think? ...

Re: Philisophical Starter Question
Ok I placed the order with Clarks so i have a few days before everything goes back in. I even ordered the spring behind the "Drive Bendix" in case it is worn.
Thanks for all the help and tips.
The only question now is how do I remove the cone from the starter?
Thanks,
Dave
