Re: 64 Corvair caught on fire bigtime! What do I do now?

You do have the right attitude. It seems to me with a little clean up and replacement of obviously burned parts you'll be well on your way to being back on the road. These guys seem to have some spare parts keep up the conversation and you'll be back on the road. Personally, I would look at it as a ...

Re: Can I run my Corvair without the heater hoses?

both of my hoses were like yours, ripped and torn for years and my car has never over heated. I had them replaced by my old mechanic. he must be almost 80. he likes to complain about my car but he didn't say anything about it being difficult to replace the heater hoses....

Re: New to 'vairs

Yeah, they're older cars and prone to being misunderstood by mechanics (shade tree or not). That can lead to issues down the road. I believe true mechanics are a dieing breed so it is a good car to "cut your teeth on" mechanically-that way you have no one to blame but yourself. It can be d...

Re: The Elephant in the Room

That's a very interesting historical review. I owned a BMW once and was very impressed by it. I think alot of people say that about German engineering. It seems like they didn't get it from VW after all. And its not really which one is more superior or who came first its just that they are two diffe...

The Elephant in the Room

I have never liked the comparison to Volkswagen.
Discuss...!
After reading the "random-guy" post, who asks "what kind of car is that" inspired me.......(plus I am bored waiting on the major undertaking to get my ride RIGHT!)

Re: Random Guy Poll

Usually, "Cool Car." or "no kidding, Chevy?" or like you pointed out someone they knew had one. Its the ones that know what it is that's fun to me. A lot of times people had them or like you pointed out someone they knew had one. But never had the roll over and bursting into flam...

Re: Philosophical Starter Question

Oh well. I thought I was clear.....I inspected the fly wheel by having someone rotate the engine 360 degrees. I saw all the teeth. The teeth i took a picture of were the worse I could find meaning most worn. Not knowing what I am looking at the teeth looked fine. Question #1; If the teeth are so bad...
