Engine Shrouds

Just a quick question, My engine shroud and one of the side pieces is rusted through and unusable. are all corvair shrouds the same from 60 to 69? what about the rest of the engine gasket holder pieces? or does it need to be specific to my engine year model?

Thanks for all replies!

Re: Crankcase cover

Brad,

Is the page you posted above out of a clarks catalog? If so, which one? I looked in my Clarks catalog and I couldn't find a breakdown like this. And if not, what manual did it come from? I could really use an engine breakdown for reference.

Thanks,
John

Valve removal

I am trying to get the valves removed from my 65 engine. I have the springs off and have removed several of them. I have a few that stems that i cannot get out. when i try to pull them out, the tip will not pull through. the tips look like they are flared out at the very tip. (red circle) I think I ...

Re: Cleaning engine parts

OK, I have used the purple power, it's cleaned the parts pretty well, I have also switched over and used kerosene on some aluminum parts, I got a little worried about the purple power since it says it's corrosive on aluminum. I watched Davemotohead's video, and My parts are not coming ultra clean li...

I'm trying to get a 65 - 110hp engine cleaned up and back in working order, I well on my way to having it disassembled, but I am struggling with removing the fan of all things. I have the pulley removed, but the fan isn't budging. any tips? am I missing something? thanks for all responses!

Re: Cleaning engine parts

Wow! if purple power cleans them that good then that's what i'm buying! thanks for the link to DaveMotoheads you tube channel. I think I've watched about 20 of his videos so far.

Cleaning engine parts

Hey guys, I actually have a few different questions, i hope it's ok to ask them all in one post. I am in the process of rebuilding a "65 500 (110hp) engine and as it is taken down, it makes sense to thoroughly clean the components as I go. So, here are my questions: Does anyone have a "mag...

Re: Swapping a 64 engine for a 65 500 engine question

Thanks for the info Brad. I am feeling very good about this swap to the 65 engine. I have another question if you don't mind answering another, or anybody for that matter. The guy that has the engine also has the front and rear suspension from the 65. He says it's "5 Lug" which I assume me...

Re: Swapping a 64 engine for a 65 500 engine question

Thanks for the replies! The fellow I'm dealing with says he thinks it's a 110. the car it came out of was an automatic, so that makes the swap easier, I think. Brad, to answer your question about the alternator, I am intending to go with alternator, I was planning to do an alternator conversion on t...

Swapping a 64 engine for a 65 500 engine question

To try to bring you up to speed, I bought a 64 monza convertible a few months ago and have begun the process of restoring, as it is in pretty rough shape. Anyway, fast forward a couple months and an order for parts from Clark's, and I have dropped the engine and transmission, ready to begin tear dow...

Re: New member, New to Corvairs

Thanks to all for the warm welcome, I'll try to answer the questions the best I can. I am located in Florence, AL. (Northwestern part of the state, for those not familiar with Alabama.) I have done a search for a CORSA chapter close to my location, the closest two are Vulcan Corvair Enthusiasts in C...

New member, New to Corvairs

Hello to all, I'm John and Have recently purchased a 64 monza PG vert. I am new to corvairs, never worked on one, sat in one, seen one in person until i bought this one. My wife and I have always wanted a classic car, but never could agree on what suited us both. we saw this corvair and were both on...
